Vytopna Restaurant at Wenceslas Square serves good food and drinks at reasonable prices. But its unique attraction is a miniature railway which runs around the entire restaurant through tunnels, over drawbridges and the trains pull into stations and even run down the centre of the tables you sit at to deliver your drinks. There’s a children’s menu with pasta, pizza etc...

Prague Zoo is forgotten by some city guides, but is certainly worth a visit. It is a few kilometres from the city centre. Among the traditional zoo animals are lions, tigers, elephants, giraffes, penguins and sea lions. A chairlift runs within the zoo. From the top there are views over the outskirts of Prague.

Black Light Theatre is a mix of ballet, animated film, illusions, puppets and mime artists. The shows are highly visual, and children enjoy the dancing and the lights and sounds. There are also lots of puppet theatres, some of which have life sized puppets.

The main square was very crowded when we went. If you want to get a breather, there is a small but nice playground just below Charles Bridge on the right hand side (castle side) where you get lovely views. Also the park in the island in the middle of the river. The mirror maze (next to the “Eiffel” tower) is small but would be a huge hit with a six year old and you can get the funicular railwayback. The Marina restaurant (houseboat on the river) was fantastic. Enjoy!

Go to Hamleys on Wenceslas Square...it ha so much going on inside, play areas, carousel, tropical butterfly enclosure you can walk through in the basement, house of mirrors etc.

There is also a sight seeing 'train' that leaves every hour from the old square opposite Cartier. A chance for adults to see the sights, but added bonus of a train that might keep your daughter happy?

I agree that the train restaurant is fun!! There are a few of these in the city and you can and should call to book a table.

Thanks everyone! Will be spending the weekend planning our itinerary. Have also seen a medieval banquet evening with fire eaters etc - it says is suitable for children but would value any feedback from anyone who’s been?

We brought dd to the restaurant with the train - food was nothing to write home about but the experience was great.
Visit the underground Alchemy Lab Museum - really worth seeing
Have fancy cake and hot chocolate in either the Grand Orient Cubist Cafe - upstairs or the art deco cafe in the town hall - or do both like us!

Love Prague - have been a couple of time and would go back in the morning if I could

Just returned from an absolutely great trip. Would definitely recommend Prague as a city break with kids. We especially liked the museum of senses and the black light theatre company and the restaurants were very accommodating 😍
