It is my parents' 35th wedding anniversary next March and my siblings and I want to do something as a surprise. We want to go away in the UK somewhere with a fabulous restaurant which is also childfriendly. We also need accommodation which is local to the restaurant. I think maybe lunch would be better than dinner as we have 5 boys under the age of 5.......any ideas???

Don't know about the restaurant but we stayed in some gorgeous cottages in Combe Martin, Devon. Well, the good thing about them was that they have a swimming pool and sauna attached and as their season only starts in March we had it to ourselves. Its also pretty cheap low season, but maybe you want to push the boat out a bit more?

Well, we live in Italy but parents are in the North and so we thought maybe Scotland but it needs to be good food and very child friendly.

Loads of beautiful places in North Wales you know. We stayed
here
plus they've got a beautiful massive 'cottage' in the grounds that would sleep loads of you (if i remember about 6 adults and 6 or 7 kids- massive 8 foot beds for the adults)

How about the Crieff Hydro or Peebles Hydro Hotels? Both in Scotland, both child friendly with creches and spa/pool for the adults. The Crieff Hydro has self-catering cottages attached which might be better for a large group. I've only stayed at the Peebles Hydro and I'd describe the food as good and tradional rather than fabulous but the hotel was excellent and somewhere I'd go back to. I think the Crieff hydro has better evening entertainment- ceilidhs and dance bands etc. This is the site: www.crieffhydro.com
