Ideas wanted for foodie couple short break

Could anyone recommend a destination for a short break. It will be our 10 year wedding anniversary next year, and dh and I want to go away but have never left the dcs (6 and 3).

We'd like to go somewhere less than 3 hours away ideally, somewhere not too bustling (it'll be end of June so being stuffy and surrounded by loads of people doesn't appeal)
.
We love food and dh loves fine dining. I adore shopping and little markets so anywhere where we could tick both boxes would be fab.

So far my only thought has been the amalfi coast. I'm totally lost.

Anyway any suggestions would be gratefully received

Copenhagen is also amazing. A surprising amount of fabulous restaurants but not cheap. Less bustling markets and more museums and castles though.

Palermo is great for food and markets. Really lovely city.

Eindhoven? A friend went recently and loved. Up and coming so not too busy and very clean. It also has a few Michelen star restaurants.

Madrid, tapas tour. There is a lot of amazing eating there - we did a tour on day 1 and spent the rest of the week eating round their recommendations. Also many, many cake opportunities.

Would not recommend Rome. You can eat v well in Rome but it is much harder work to weed out the crappy tourist places and however hard you try, you will eat badly at least once. Same for Venice.

Bologna is much better.

If your prime motivation is cake, and possibly also wine tasting - what about Budapest? DH and I spent a week doing an in depth survey of traditional cakes and cafe culture of the Austro-Hungarian empire there Grin
