Costa Adeje - Tenerife

Anyone been here?

We would like to go to a villa here, with two 11 year olds and two 15 year olds. It looks like a nice resort, not too busy or 'clubby' but I've just read one review that says it is typically touristy, with cheap bars and overcrowded beaches.

Which is it? Sophisticated and classy, or busy and chavvy??

The latter imho

I went about six years ago on my own and stayed at the Sheraton Hotel (5*), so I didn’t come across anything or anyone ‘chavvy’.

I did a few activities like a bike ride down mount tiede and again nobody would be considered chavvy.

I guess in other parts of the island you may get that, but from what I remember it’s quiet there andvreally lovely. Only thing I didn’t like was the pebble black sand beaches. First world problems but I like golden sand... lol

We stayed just outside costa adeje in La Caleta, which was quite small with just a few restaurants but only 10 minutes from Costa Adeje. I thought Costa Adeje was a bit touristy for my liking but then I'm an anti social old cow!

Also stayed at the sheraton a few years ago... didn't feel the area was 'too touristy' - great walks along the promenade/good choice of restaurants/not crowded imo...

It depends- if you pick a hotel nearer 'colon' beach then it will be. If you go further among- near the Rui or the Sheraton then it is really nice.

Thanks for all these handy hints!

Just booked a villa in la caleta. I like the fact it's quite quiet looking but within v easy reach of more life.

With two 15yr olds I didn't want them to be tempted by the clubs further towards playa de las americas!!

Are you going in high summer or earlier in the season OP?

Los Cristianos, PDLA and Costa Adeje are pretty much joined together along the coast.
The nearer to PDLA the more touristy it is. Parts of Adeje are much more upmarket.

When mine were 15 ish it was quite tricky. They are old enough to want something going on in the evening but too young to let loose alone. I think Costa Adeje ticks the boxes for evening entertainment. Plenty of good restaurants and family friendly bars with music but no nightclubs or large groups of youngsters.
I took 3 teens old enough to go clubbing (18, and 19) to Adeje and they would have had to get a taxi to PDLA to do so (they weren't bothered).
It also has the advantage of being close to Siam Park which is teen heaven.

We're going the last two weeks of August.

15 is indeed a tricky age. (Especially my 15 yr old, who has pushed the boundaries with various illicit substances already, and she's not even 15 yet!!)

We looked at google maps yesterday and I am happy the villa is far enough away from temptation! Although I expect I will get some begging to be allowed off....
