Need some honest feedback here...
Currently planning to go to Disney world in April next year - big family trip paid for by my mum to remember my dad who died 10yrs ago. I have one dd who will be 2 and I've just found out I'm pg with dc2 - who will be just 2 months old when we go. The dates and the place are important and cannot be changed so it is a case of do we join the family or not. Am I mad to consider taking dc2 when they will be so young?? Need to book soon to get flights and hotels..

usually small babys are easy to travel with - have a babysling, a nappy bag and if you're bf then food is on tap.

Go for it just be prepared that you might feel tired so might not be able to keep up with all the family if baby is waking which is very likely.

Good luck

it will be a nightmare but worth it, you will have all the family on hand to help and its a once in a lifetime chance but how will you book ticket for new baby as you dont know when he/she will arrive?

ELR · 29/06/2007 08:54

all flying with kids is a nightmare in my opinion!!

never mind the kids I hated 10 hours stuck on a plane!

I'm sure you'll have afab time once you're there though!

Living in NZ and travelling home to England every year I would say the 2 month old will be a walk in the park, they feed, sleep etc and are oblivious to jetlag/time zones etc. I would be more concerned about taking enough books, toys and games to entertain your DD. I would definately go. The baby will be no problem.

SpacePuppy · 29/06/2007 09:03

Small babies travels like a dream, they sleep on the plane like never before. We took ds to SA when he was 5weeks and return when 8 weeks!

SanetJvv · 29/06/2007 09:09

good luck with 2 year old!!!

Thanks for the advice - am inclined to go just need to make sure I'm not getting too swept away with the prospect of Disney!!!!
Will probably hand dd to dh for the flight and I'll look after new one. You can book for an infant before they are born with your due date - you just have to update the information when they arrive....

What about your passport, how will you do that? Can you get the packs before you pop and then get birth cert done and the midwife to sign the app.

mumclaire · 01/07/2007 20:01

Will just have to do a quick turn around with the passport - photo will be of bubsy a couple of hours old! Plus I know loads of people who can sign it - might get dh to go up to london to get it done in person... oh dear getting carried away with planning again but 'I'm just sooo excited'!!

The Passport Office do a one week fast track passport service for child passports.

www.passport.gov.uk is the website you need to look at.

We went to Canada when dd2 was a few months old, and she was much easier on the flight than dd1 who was 2.5 and kept asking for the toilet.

SecondhandRose · 02/07/2007 17:40

Of course. Go. I took DD when she was 5 months, we had a great time. I would definitely recommend you rent a house. Ours is www.windsorhills.biz and only two miles from Disney.
Get yourself a book called The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World either 2007 or 2008 will be printed at the end of August. Just avoid the school holiday Easter weeks and you'll have a great time.
