Longhaul luxury beach trip - any recommendations?

Hello fellow mamas,

I am in desperate need of a holiday, we didn't have one since our 2nd baby was born 2,5 years ago... as my older one (5) has started Reception we are bound to school holidays, unfortunately. So we're looking into a luxury beach trip to Mexico or Thailand or ?? - as we used to travel a lot pre kids and love both countries. I am just not sure if it would be good for them (and us, ultimately), as flight times are long and the jet lag is not to be underestimated and the climate is very hot in the Summer months.

Looking into July / August to leave for 2 weeks. Do you have any ideas of somewhere nice that offers something for families but not too overcrowed with families. Should be rather a smaller resort, ideally boutique hotel style and we're looking more into luxury holidays. Should be on a beach or very close. Many many thanks in advance!

Have a look at the Maldives or Mauritius because it's only a 4 hour time difference, which is a lot easier to cope with than 7 hours in Thailand!
The flights are overnight as well, so perfectly manageable with small children

We always use Turquiose travel for long haul family holidays. They always come up with really good suggestions and are competitively priced compared to others (and loads cheaper than negotiating directly with the hotel in our experience)

You could look at Cape Verde. Not such long flights and only -1GMT (-2 in BST) so no jet lag! I don’t think if ever gets about 30 degrees or so, so not insanely hot.

This is a wonderful boutique hotel on Koh Phangan we've stayed here and on Koh Samui- highly recommend bother of them....they also have gorgeous hotels in the Maldives and in many other gorgeous locations ( they even have one in the Algarve if you don't fancy travelling too far)
Well worth a look as they have good deals if you book far enough in advance

Thanks so much to everyone for their feedback! We went to Turquoise holidays yesterday and they also recommended Mauritius / Maledives though the really long flight scares me a bit.

I have been many times to Rasananda pre kids and I love it! Where would you recommend to go on Koh Samui?

We stayed at Anantara Bophut

Perfectly placed , right on the beach , with views over to Koh Phangan , beautiful tropical gardens and a wonderful spa. Breakfasts were amazing
We did a cookery class at the hotel, which included a visit to local market for ingredients
Only minutes from Fisherman's village, so lots of options for eating out
We did a boat trip to Angthong Marine Park, but not sure if that would be practical with 2 little dcs, we did a tour of island by minivan , stopping at temples and viewpoints
We were quite happy to lounge by the pool/ beach!

We went to Mauritius just overs a year ago, lots of children on the plane, resort we stayed at was amazing, 10 minutes from airport, right on the beach, kids club, two pools, very family friendly, best holiday we have ever been on

We stayed at Bluewaters in Antigua last August and it was a lovely holiday. Our DC are 8 and 11 and whilst we loved it, it was slightly too quiet for us. But I think we would have really loved it when kids were smaller. It was very family friendly but not over run by buggies and screaming kids.

Another recommendation is Sani in Greece. We went there three times when DC were really small and they were great holidays. Luxurious, extremely well run hotel and they have many many things in place that make holidaying with little ones tad bit easier and enjoyable.

The flight time to Mauritius or the Maldives is the same as to Thailand, I think?

And you can always go via the Middle East and break it up with a layover in Dubai etc if you don't want to do it in one hit

op I did that flight to mauritius with a 3 year old. On the way there she slept as it was night time and way back it was also ok. I did let her watch 3 films though. And had a backpack of snacks, sticker books, and activities and crayons
