Longhaul with clockwork kids and jet lag

My kids bodies run like clock work. How do you cope with jet lag/time zone change?

Really want to take them to the Caribbean but think will have a 4 year old up all night demanding breakfast!

Is it easier to go the other way to Thailand/Mauritius?

Any advice for coping on Caribbean time? Thanks

Night flight is your friend.

My dds were out of sorts for the first day, then after that they were fine. Just stick to Caribbean meal times. If they get up early, take them for a walk around the first morning as an opportunity to get to know where everything is at your resort. They can have an afternoon snooze later on, and will stay up later to enjoy the entertainment.

We’re off to Sri Lanka this year. Our flight out is a night flight. The flight back is a day flight.

We've been taking our toddler long haul since she was 10m old and shes in a fixed routine, as we landed mid afternoon she'd have an extra nap, put to bed at usual time. At 10m old she did wake up at 4am for milk, then fell asleep again, we woke her at her usual time to get her back to normal.
Recent trips age 2 again an extra nap, bed as usual and she's woken at 6am with the sun (Caribbean)

What time of year are you thinking of travelling?. I ask only as the weather in all these places can vary a lot throughout the year.

Longhaul flights heading west i.e. to North America, the Caribbean and South America usually depart during daylight hours because of the time difference. Flights head eastwards i.e to Asia and Australia tend to depart the UK early to late evening again because of the time of arrival.

October. Caribbean is the ideal. I know this is t recognised as the beat time to go there but I've been in October a lot and it's fine plus half term for eldest. My 4 year old is literally like a computer programme with her food so whilst I may be able to alter sleep a bit I know she will be demanding food at ungodly hours then want to play! Do i suck up the first world problem or go to Spain?!
