Hi

Ideally I'd like a place that is really geared up for kids/toddlers so we don't have to take loads of stuff for DD.

Looking to go at beginning of August, somewhere sunny in Europe. Im currently 16wks pregnant, don't want a long transfer from the airport.

Cany anyone recommend anywhere? Or does anyone know of any holiday companies that specialise in these types of holidays?

Only going away for a week so just want to sit on the beach/pool and have a wander close to resort etc.

Thanks for any help

Hmmmm, a tricky one because most hotels kids clubs are for older kids. Just did a search and Mark Warner resorts have child care for littlies, but they said they cost extra because of higher ratio of nannies but they have resorts in Europe.

We went to Corfu and the transfer was about 30 minutes, there was a kids club but we didn't use it as our eldest did not want to go on his own and DD was too young but they were pretty happy with a bucket and spade, some arm bands and some pool inflatables!

You could drive (or fly if you prefer) to France and stay at a Canvas or Eurocamp or Siblu type place.

TippiHedren · 28/06/2007 20:59

Whats your budget?

kirstyh1 · 30/06/2007 00:42

I have said it before but i will say it now they are very good www.holitots.com apartment rentals and baby equipment hire so you do not have to take loads with you and they are near to airports transfer from Murcia is 25 miutes and Alicante 45 minutes. worth anyone with kids to look at it, they often change special offers so get ini touch to see what they have,

i've always liked the look of these but i've never been on one...

Thanks for your replies, sorry I didn't get back to you sooner.

It's late now but I'll check out those links tomorrow, thanks for posting them.

I'm really nervous about going away with DD as I am concerned we'll overlook the obvious and it end up a disastrous and expensive holiday!

Our budget is flexible really, don't want to put DD into a creche but ideally want a place that is geared up for kids!

Loucee, I am currently offering a big discount on the first week in August here. The apartment has a travel cot and my Letting Agent hires out high chairs.

Hulababy · 01/07/2007 13:43

We took DD to Italy - on Lake Garda - when she was 16 months old. It was also in August. Italy are fantastic with children IME, and the area was lovely.

Leslaki · 01/07/2007 19:03

I agree with can't sleep, we took ds and dd to France with French Life when dd was 3 months and ds was18 months. It was fantastic!!! We went to ST Jean de MOnts and as dh wouldn't do the long ferry we did calais to St jean which was too long a drive for a baby so we stopped midway in Rouen - best decision as hotel was perfect. However, if you go away out of school hols take the overnight ferry to St mao. We drive to Portsmouth in afternoon, spend a few hours on the beach or playing in a opark then dinner before getting 2030 overnight ferry. Let kids rampage for a couple of hours so they are exhausted (this involves sitting at a bar while they dance to the live band!) then back to the cabin for a good night's sleep. next morning short coupla hours drive to the campsite. Very relaxing but this lovely ferry journey was quoted at over £700 for August!!! So back to Calais for us!! Anyway, getting back to the point, the campsites are so fantastic for kids - pools are set up for little ones (depending on site - best one I've been to is Mane Guernehue at Baden in Brittany) and they all tend to have paly areas, kids facilities and restauarants/takeaways geared up to kids tastes. We've always had BBQs at ourmoile homes whioch is faba nd very relaxing as you don't need to worry about behaviour.

If you went ot the Vendee you could fly to Nantes, Brest in Brittany and dh could pick you up.

I'd go with AlwaysWatchingC..... idea. Look at www,skyscanner.net for cheap flights and www.kinderhotels.co.uk for a child friendly break.

Thanks for your link MrsSpoon, at the moment the flights from Glasgow or Edinburgh are looking very expensive but out of interest how much would a return transfer be if your letting agent organised it? (Neither DH nor I like driving abroad).

Hulababy, got a call from a Travel Agent today who has found us a week in Lake Garda (DH took call so can't remember ins and outs) but it's £1600 for the week self catering incl flights - does this sound reasonable? I thought it was expensive but know Italy is more expensive?

Lesklaki - sorry missed your reply. Thanks for all the information you supplied. We're travelling from Scotland so direct flights and quick transfers will be the order of the day. I'm suffering with nausea at the moment adn although I'll be 22wks by the time we go on hols I know I'll appreciate a short straightforward journey.

Loucee, I see what you mean the flights are quite pricey, for two adults and a toddler, they are coming out at around £450 return, I suppose it's a gamble whether they will come back down again.

I have asked my agent to price up an airport transfer from Murcia airport to apartment, and I'll let you know how much that would be as soon as she gets back to me.

MrsSpoon · 02/07/2007 12:12

Hi Loucee, I have heard from my agent. She can arrange a transfer from Murcia airport to the apartment for 120 Euros return (this works out at roughly £81 return).

The offer on the apartment for the week of 28th July to 4th August is £270 (there are no extra charges for cleaning, linen, towels, electricity or water), plus £81 transfer and then flights, which are currently around £450, bringing the total cost of the week to around £800.

Feel free to contact me through our website if you would like any more information.

MrsSpoon · 02/07/2007 12:13

Should add the transfer from the airport to the apartment should take between 30 and 40 mins.

MrsSpoon · 02/07/2007 12:19

I should mention also that the transfer company provides a car seat.

Loucee · 03/07/2007 21:32

MrsSpoon, is the apartment only available from Sat-Sat?

OP posts:
Loucee · 03/07/2007 22:48

Also MrsSpoon, can you let me know how much the transfer would be from Alicante airport? The flights from Glasgow don't go into Murcia from what I can see.

Thanks

Loucee, think it was you who mailed me, I have replied. I think you are right, you don't get flights from Glasgow to Murcia, however there are flights from Prestwick and Edinburgh to Murcia. I will ask about the Alicante transfer for you.

MrsSpoon · 03/07/2007 23:03

Loucee, just noticed your other post, the only available week between now and the end of August is 28th July to 4th August, however we are happy to rent part of the week if that suits better.

Loucee · 04/07/2007 23:02

MrsSpoon, just sent you an email, we've booked our flights!

In the end we decided on going into Alicante as it's a 1.5hr drive to Edinburgh and the savings on the flight will go towards the higher transfer cost in Spain.

Loucee, I know you know this but have been in touch now. Hope you have a fantastic holiday when it comes round!
