Holiday with teens 14 and 15

Any recommendations for summer holidays what worked for you with teens probably not AI. Looking for an easy holiday, safe area, somewhere not too hectic, nice scenery, relaxation, nice restaurants, won’t break the bank, opportunity for kids to socialise with others round the pool and or a games room or something. Thinking 2 weeks or just under 2 weeks for 3K (for flights from Scotland last two weeks when Scottish schools have gone back in August) and accommodation maybe somewhere with nice breakfast. Love a wander and eating out at night. Happy to put something together ourselves but looking for recommendations. Need a double bed for ourselves and two single beds as have a girl and a boy. Many thanks

we did a week in Vasiliki at ocean elements. its sailing and windsurfing which the kids really enjoyed, afternoon teens club and something on every night but not tacky just fun. breakfast only is included and we go lunch nearby or had picnics and went out in the evening.

Thank you did you book direct or who did you book with also how did it work out price wise. None of us are watersports enthusiasts but I am sure the DC would have a go also do the activities stop at 13 or is that not right?

We went here in a large family group with a couple of teenagers and they had a brilliant time. www.landal.com/parks/landgoed-t-loo

Thanks Ricekrispie22 unfortunately/fortunately it will only be the four of us.

Have a look at Camping Del Garda. We flew to Verona and loved our holidays with teens by the lake. Lots of cycling by the lake and boat trips to the pretty villages around the lake. There is also a water park and theme park nearby if that's your kind of thing. Public transport is great so you don't need to hire a car. We have had two fantastic holidays there and found it quite cheap to eat out... lots of pizza!

Windowbasket · 04/01/2019 08:34

Elizabethcharotte - Camping del Guarda looks great and I'm interested! Did you have a car when you were there or did you manage the entire holiday without one? We would rather not have a car but use bike hire at the campsite. Just how easy is the public transport? Amazonian - sorry for hijacking your thread but you have asked exactly the same question that I have, and also the same budget! It's quite a task finding the family holiday ...

Amazonian27 · 04/01/2019 09:12

No problem Windowbasket it’s so hard pleasing everybody especially within budget. I think DH would like to do as little as possible barely moving from his sun lounger. I like a combination I enjoy spending time as a family (when it’s going well) a little wandering/exploring, relaxing but most of all I enjoy seeing the DC happy more than anything. Whilst they do enjoy the pool and beach they would be bored rigid if absolutely nothing else to i.e. activities to take part in table tennis or a beach nearby and others the same age to hang around with.

Amazonian - we booked ocean elements direct with them. there are several watersports places in a row here including club vass which is a bit more expensive. they are all aimed at young teens and adults so definitely don't stop the activities at 13. we didn't really see many younger kids around which my teens preferred.

Amazonian27 · 04/01/2019 19:25

Great mummymeister was it a good mix of nationalities, what were the restaurants nearby like and is it still put loo paper in the bin not the toilet?

Windowbasket we never hired a car and never felt the need for one. The first time we went we flew to Venice and stayed for two nights. Then we got a train direct from Venice to Peschiera and it was a 10 minute walk to the campsite (although we got a taxi as we didn't realise it was so close!). To get home we got the train to Milan and flew from there.

Last year we flew direct to Verona and got the tourist bus from the airport to Peschiera and we did that in reverse going home.

Whilst there we had a day in Verona by train, a boat trip to Sirmione, another boat trip to Lazise and we got the free shuttle bus to the water park. We hired bikes from a local shop and loved cycling by the lake. There was a large supermarket 10 minutes walk from the campsite. We spent most days laying by the campsite swimming pools and eating pizza in the evening in a lakeside restaurant. We love it there and my teenagers keep begging us to go back again!

shutlingsloe · 04/01/2019 21:47

I was going to say Lake Garda. My teen dc loved it too - we also took the train from Venice to Peschiera. Fantastic area, we did two holidays there when we had two teens.

Amazonian27 · 04/01/2019 22:08

How old were the teenagers you took to slake Garda please? I thought about a camping holiday last year but was put off as many said by age 12 to 13 teenagers had fallen out with camping holidays & Euro type sites.

We did campsite holidays until they were 15/16 - some Spain, some Italy. It's true there were lots of young families there but plenty with older teens too.

Amazonian27 · 06/01/2019 10:39

Thanks all any more recommendations that worked or any recommendations for a nice apart type hotel with the convenience of a base reasonably large enough for 4 grown people with nice breakfast (with plenty of choice) and some organised activities that the teenagers can take part in should they do desire I.e. water volleyball/polo etc.

We had a great holiday at Pelagos Suites in Kos. Teenagers were about 12 & 14. Near Kos Town which is lovely. Hotel has lots of activities.

Amazonian27 · 08/01/2019 20:33

@Kinraddie - thanks who did you book with and what sort of activities were available please? Is it still toilet roll in the bin like years ago as this puts me off going these days.

Have you thought about a cruise? We took our 12 and 15 year olds on a P&O cruise to the Norwegian ffords. We all loved it! Lots of fun on the ship if you want it or plenty of places to settle down quietly and read your book. The food and service on board was amazing. Beautiful scenery and lovely little towns to explore.

1hello2hello · 08/01/2019 21:06

.

Kinraddie · 08/01/2019 21:28

Booked direct with the hotel I think; then flights separately. It is a nice hotel, proper toilets etc! Think the hotel entertainment team organised tournaments etc for table tennis/sports etc. Bus stop outside hotel takes you into Kos town. Lots of paragliding/water sports etc on the beaches there.

Amazonian27 · 08/01/2019 22:13

Looked at Cruising but thought it was way over our budget?
Sounds nice elizabethcharlotte - will have a look.

A seven night cruise to Norwegian ffords from Southampton is much cheaper than Mediterranean cruises. All your food is included. You just need to pay for drinks and any excursions. But in Norway, at all ports that we stopped at you can just get off the ship and explore the town by foot. You don't need to book expensive excursions. We just booked one excursion which was a coach trip to a glacier. We would love to go on another cruise!

elizabethcharlotte · 09/01/2019 21:58

Sorry I should have said but we found it cheaper to book through Iglu Cruises rather than direct with P and O

Amazonian27 · 09/01/2019 22:17

Thanks all

We struggled around lake garda without a car although were staying up the side of the lake nearer the theme park.used the bus but it was not frequent..... Went in August and the water was quite foamy and smelly in the Lake. We did do ferry but found the towns just packed full of tourists and tourist shops....it bizarrely didnt feel like Italy - but that may have been because our campsite was mainly German....great pool but very little interaction... scenery was pretty ..- we did like Bardolino it seemed to have a bit of a community and real feeling....but wouldnt go back
