Canary Islands in February advice

Hello lovely Mumsnetters

I am a single mother of two (8 and 10yrs old) considering the best places for a February half term holiday.

Any info on which island, February weather, best places to stay, value for money, and anything else in between is greatly appreciated. (Or any other totally amazing destination information very welcome).

I'm a little nervous of spending too much money and is getting bored. But would quite like a bit of sunshine to look forward to.

Thank you Star

The weather can be mixed that time of year, so be prepared it may be rainy and windy and not beach weather. I'd hire a car so that if that happens you can get out and about

I remember going in February and being so disappointed. I should have brought a hot water bottle. But you could hit lucky. Once it's dry the children will have fun getting out and about.
My friend is in Lanzarote now and they are having lovely weather. You do need a cardi or jacket in the evening she said.

We went to Tenerife at Easter and found it a lot cooler than anticipated!
We hired a car, toured the island and really loved it. When we needed sun we went south though it’s a bit too resort-y for me in the south.
Swimming in the sea was quite chilly in March... but we had a couple of days at Siam Park where it was warm and pleasant and worth the entrance fee.

It's cold. You'll need coat/jumpers and boots. I won't be going back!

Could you go to the Cape Verde's? Really warm and high quality hotels. Not much to do outside the hotels mind you so depends what you want.
Gambia also good this time of year for short haul.

We often spend a week or 10 days in Fuerteventura at the end of January.
I have found Corralejo to be a lovely family resort town. With plenty going on, but not at all 'tacky'. Lots of shops & restaurants, wonderful harbour and beach. It's about a mile from the amazing sand dunes beach which what the island is famous for.
Weather has been good every time I have been over the years. Usually somewhere between 23-27 degrees. Cool in the evenings. Occasionally quite windy. On the cooler days we find there's plenty to do in the town, we once went bowling on the only day it was raining. Great place for kids.

Thank you all

There's so much to consider and too many decisions to make.

Take a coat and jumper. Found Lanzarote cold and windy in February. With the odd warm bit.

I've been to Lanzarote in February and the weather was warm, but not overly hot. I did have to put my towel over me on the sunbeds a couple of days. Perfect weather for sightseeing though. It rained one day.

LadyGAgain

Is it likely to be warm enough in Cape Verde for swimming (sea or pool)? Thanks.

LadyGAgain · 01/01/2019 01:29

Yes @Nquartz Smile. It should be super warm!
