TIPS WANTED/ FLYING WITH 14MONTH OLD AND 3 YR OLD

Does anyone have any great tips for flying with 14month old and 3 year old

Three year old should be OK - only it has taken us weeks of reassurance to get over a flying phobia and I am worried that he will suddenly kick off at the departure gate. DH says they wont let us on the plane if he does.

Last time we went away ds1 had throat infection (unknown to us) on the return flight and he was the child from hell that no-one wants to be sitting within 10 rows of (could explain the phobia). This time I have managed to con the doctor out of amoxicillin and have it in its powdered form so will start administering it on day 4 of holiday regardless (is prone to ear/throat infections esp from pools).

All tips greatly apprecitated.

Sorry that this is duplicated but the last conversation didn't work properly.

How long is flight - have only ever done short haul with my two. First of all make sure you fly at a reasonable time - ie reasonable for the kids and not when they'll be at their most crabby. 14-month-old flies for free but almost worth paying for extra seat imo if you think it will be a struggle to have him/her on your knee all the way. DH and I always found it better to have four seats divided by the aisle to separate them in case of scraps (often find one on one works better when we all want to stay calm). Also try and sit on the back row to be near loo (my daughter always needs to go at least 5 times even on shortest flight!) It goes without saying you should have a bag of distractions/snacks and don't get them all out at once (save a few fireworks for later as dh would say!) Finally even if they do kick off and have the mother of all screaming fits just tell yourself that most people on that flight will either be, or have been parents and will thanking their lucky stars it's not their kids (or that theirs are past that stage). If they don't have kids and make this point to you just remind them who'll be paying their pensions!!! Good luck - and don't let it spoil your holiday.
