Morning everyone..

DH, our two children and I are going to the Maldives for two weeks in January.
DS1 will be three and a half, and dS2 will be eight months when we go..
Any gadgets/products that were amazing for the children while you were away?
For example, I have seen the Stokke Bedbox (suitcase that turns into a little bed) for the flight..anybody used one of these before?

All suggestions are much appreciated!

Cares harness for your 3 year old, makes the airplane seats safer for little children.

iPad with cartoons on.

Micro fibre poncho to put on them as soon as you get out of the pool/water, they get cold very quickly.

Ooh lucky kids that will be amazing!!

I've seen the Stokke things but some airlines ban them so check before you buy. Jojo maman have a thing called a sky baby travel mattress that might be good for the 8 month old, it's a wrap thing that helps them sleep on your lap.

I had an extended sunshade for the stroller from Diono which was handy as it really kept the sun off DC and has lots of pockets at the top for things like room keys.

Bring a mini fan for cooling down hot baby, v useful.

I have mixed feelings about my sun tent, it can get hot in there but is v good for baby to have a quiet 5 mins/nap.

Also the pacapod pods are so useful as you've got one with changing stuff in and one that's a cooler for snacks and cutlery etc, about 30 for both on their website.

Big white T shirts, even in the pool.

The main thing is just to keep them hydrated and cool.
Hats, t. Shirts, water bottles, regular ice cream. Something for shade.

A fitted sheet. Turn it inside out and put your bags etc into the corners. It'll keep the sand off the little ones!

Blackout shade for your pram. Reef shoes for the toddler.

Mini paddling pool, stacking cups, bath toys & watering can.

If your 3.5yo can't swim independently, what device are they going to use to keep them afloat? Armbands? Noodle? One of those vest things? Get them used to it before you go. With the 8mo in one of those swim seat things and the 3.5yo afloat, one of you should be able to supervise both in the pool meaning the other can actually relax for a few minutes.

Talcum powder to get the sand off. My ds cant stand having dried sand on his legs/hands and talc removes it easily.

Sunisshining5346 · 26/11/2018 13:09

Aww thank you everybody! Some really good things here!
The talc to get sand off!! Why have I only just found this out?!
Thank you so much again 😊

I was always sceptical about it, but had seen it on here for years.... decided to try it one day and never looked back! Enjoy your holiday.

A baby swim seat for the baby and a swim jacket for your older child and inflatables from the poundshop as they are extortionate in resorts. Poundland still has some when I was in yesterday.

Calpol
Wipes
Snacks for plane and out there
Comfortable shoes
Wipes
Hooded poncho style towel
Sunsafe style costumes to avoid sunburn
Caps or legionnaires swimhat to protect there head
Sunscreen
Talc

Is your onward transfer by seaplane or boat - the seaplanes are stricter than the main airlines about what you can carry as hand luggage (only 5kg per person) so just bear in mind when you pack stuff for the journey.

InfantaSybilla · 29/11/2018 10:27

The best thing we took on holiday with our 3 year old last year was a set of 'snap' cards with her favourite TV show characters. Kept her amused for aaaaages and can be used everywhere (plane, beach, dinner etx) .

Sunisshining5346 · 29/11/2018 10:37

Hersetta427 it's by seaplane..didn't even think about that! Do you know if prams can be taken onto seaplane?
Thank you all for your responses 😊

I am sure you can (we went with a 3 yr old though so didn't need one). Just be aware though that lots of paths and even floors in restaurants are sand so pushing a prank around can be hard work. Have fun- we are going again in May but our kids are 11 and 7 so much older.

Sunisshining5346 · 29/11/2018 10:53

Aww are you..we haven't been to the Maldives before, extremely excited for this one!

Will be our 6th time (but only 2nd with the kids). Best place in the world !
