Holiday cost advice

How much would you expect to pay for a family of four for a week in the canaries ai in March? (Age 4 and 1)? Holiday village type place with good flight times?

We don't go away much so I've no idea what's reasonable

Jet2holidays usually have good prices, and flight times and if you're not set on where you go, you could put your requirements into their deals section and see what comes up.

Prices in March will depend hugely on whether when you go is Easter holiday time, so stay away from that if you can.

It's late Feb into March, so not school holiday time

Easter is late this year so I would personally look at going a bit later say the end of March when the weather will be better. even though all the hotels say heated pools you do have to take it with a pinch of salt because most are too cold to swim in. so if that's important to you I would look on TripAdvisor. Its really difficult to give a price because it depends whether you want a package, an hotel, an apartment etc. the cheapest option is going on a site like momondo and finding the right flights and then using ownersdirect, Airbnb etc for a villa or apartment. pulling together your own package is usually cheaper and you have more choice. what ballpark area is your budget in ?

I guess I'm asking is £1300 reasonable? x

I reckon you could get it cheaper if its outside ofvschool holidays and low season, but it depends what youre after. Im the budget queen.

Best way to know if its a good price is to do other searches, and then look at the price of booking flights and hotels seperatly

I think I just want my own personal travel agent to do all the work and book for me (ideally pay for it too)

I'd say £1300 is reasonable for AI, but it depends on what the quality is like. I wouldn't do AI because I don't like buffets for dinner and I don't want to pay for a la carte AI.

It would ruin a holiday for me if the food wasn't to my taste and I'd be reluctant to eat out on top if I'd already paid for food. But I can see the attraction for a family.

You could always go into a travel agents and see what they recommend - my local town still has an independent traditional travel agent that has the posters in the windows.

@BarbaraofSevillle I know what you mean about the food. I don't mind a buffet but always make sure that there is more than one restaurant to eat in (this one has three) and always eat out at least once too, it does get a bit same-y but a safe option with young kids I suppose!

I think if its a nice place where the food is decent and there are plenty of dining options then that's a good price. I am not a fan of AI personally and you could do it cheaper if you booked your own accommodation in a villa and ate out all the time. have you factored in a car?

Booked!

hiddeneverythin · 19/11/2018 15:58

Canaries, all inclusive, kids club, crèche, splash park. Previously my idea of hell and currently the perfect holiday!!!
