EasyJet Speedy Boarding

Is priority/speeding boarding with EasyJet worth it? Has anyone had any bad experiences with it?

I've never used it as we have young children so normally get called straight after the speedy boarders. I wouldn't bother with it though. Seats are allocated so it's not like you'd get to choose the extra legroom seats. I've been to a few smaller airports where there's a holding area between the gate and the plane, where speedy boarders end up with everyone else anyway.

I wouldn't bother. Once the plane is ready, Easyjet get everyone on board pretty quickly anyway as they always have quick turnaround times unless there's a problem with an incoming flight delay in which case no one gets on quickly.

I think it's worth doing. It means you can take a travel case and a handbag.

It also means you can get on plane promptly without having to sit and queue for an hour! You also then don't risk your suitcase being taken off you because you are near the back of the queue and it's full!

WitchyMcWitchface · 08/11/2018 05:46

You choose your seats. And pay accordingly. I think they fill the seats at the front around the speedy boarders if the plane is full so sometimes I have other fliers either side of me and sometimes I am the only in the row. But it gets you fast on and off and therefore definitely get your overhead luggage on. If the plane fills up I think your overhead suitcase might go in the hold if you're at the back of the queue.

I don't see the point. You have your allocated seat anyway and the plane isn't going to go until everyone is on so why pay more to board a few minutes earlier than everyone else.

Last flight I went on there were more speedy boarders than non-speedy boarders so their queue was huge and they spent longer queuing than us peasants who staying sitting until they were all on!

It was quite funny, one bloke walked to the front of the queue saying he had priority boarding, and the bloke at the front said "yeah so do we, join the queue".

Can't comment on EJ, but I fly a lot with Ryanair and due to their hand baggage policy the majority of passengers now opt for speedy boarding. As Cheesefield says above, it just tends to mean that you end up standing around for waaaaay longer, often outside in the rain. I travel very light so I just stay sitting in the terminal until the queue has dwindled and I can just walk straight to the plane and not be sitting there for ages before take off. If there is a bus to the plane then the speedy boarders get herded onto the bus and have to stand and wait until it is full up which can take a long time.

Yes tried it, was a good experience.

It can be worth it for the extra luggage allowance – means you can take a wheelie case and a handbag/rucksack instead of just one bag.

Last time we flew easyjet, we paid for the extra legroom seats, which come with speedy boarding and the extra luggage allowance, which meant we could get away with one less hold case, so the cost saved there made it worth it.

Having speedy boarding meant that we could join a much shorter queue for the baggage drop off – the standard queues were enormous. Getting on the plane not much faster, but the other advantages made it worth it for us.
