Car seat at night

What do you do to see your baby in the car seat at night? There are no lights in the back of my car and I regularly travel back from my parents 30 mins away max in the dark. Do you just grin and bear it? Its mostly dual carriageway so very little street lights.

I'd switch the front air bags off & stick the car seat in the front. I'm not sure if that's advisable though?

My partner is totally against me doing that as he thinks I will be distracted by dd when driving. Also there's no isofix points in the front.

But surely if you're trying to see the baby in the back of the car you'll be more distracted?

You don't need to see them. If you think there's a problem, pull over safely and check. Checking on them all the time isn't safe either as it distracts you from the road.

I've got the mirror set up so can see her in the daytime in the rearview mirror. Usually she just sleeps but sometimes things happen like her hat falling off and covering her face, or sun shade falling off the window on to her.

There isn't a way of seeing them at night. You need to remove dangers like the hat and the sunshade.

Kirstycirvine · 02/11/2018 16:01

Yes of course, I didn't realise these things could be so dangerous, just trying to keep dd warm and with sun out of her eyes in the daytime.

The thing to do is to make sure there's no loose clothing - no hats, hoods etc. then you know that's not a problem.
