Paying for a baby to sit in lap

So I'm looking at going to Paris Disneyland for my 21st. Taking then 10 month old with us. Thought I found a really good deal for £64 return but turns out I have to pay £50 for DD to sit in my lap the entire way? Is this the norm or is easy jet just being ridiculous? Can still afford it it just seems far fetched as for £14 more we can get her her own seat as she will be sitting by then and just have her in our laps for take off and landing. Hour and 50 minute flight, should we just get over it and have her in our laps for the sake of £14?

It’s only a short flight but I’d pay the extra £14. It’ll give you a bit more room for play and feeding etc. Then just buckle DD to you for take off and landing. It’s worth the extra (having done many short haul flights with 2 DC when small). Bon voyage!

I always paid for a seat for mine when they were under three, planes are uncomfortable enough without a wriggling child on your lap for the entire flight.

I've never had to pay for a child under 2 to sit on our laps, but I've never flown easy jet with her.

Tbh, I'd of happily have paid the extra £14 for a seat for dd. We travelled when dd was 14 months, and whilst it wasn't awful, It would have been easier to have had her own seat. We actually waited until she was 2 when we flew again as we wanted her to have her own seat. However, I think some airlines don't allow under 2s to have their own seat or they have to sit on an adults lap for take off/landing.

The on the lap cost includes two items in the hold (pram/ car seat/ travel cot) and additional hand luggage. You would need to pay for both if you bought her her own seat. Something worth considering. The last time I flew with easyJet (a few months ago) it was a flat rate of £20 per flight for an infant though?

EasyJet allow the 2 free baby items in the hold up to 5 years (recently flew with them and took 4 items, 2 each for 3mo on lap and 2yo in own seat)

You nearly always have to pay for a lap infant except for some domestic flights such as those within the US or Australia. 10% of the adult fare is standard but easyJet charge a fixed fee instead. So yes it’s the norm. But for £14 I’d definitely pay for the extra seat- you won’t regret it!

Lap baby is a total nightmare on a plane. Holding a squirming baby on your lap on a very small space. I'd totally pay the extra 14 quid.

I always paid for a seat once my kids were over a year old. If they didn't sit in their seat u were still allowed to seat them on your lap.

The child seat price was often cheaper than the infant price. You can still take 2 pieces of equipment until a child is 5.
