Alhambra - have I left it too late?

Hi

Visiting costa del sol tomorrow for a week and wanted to do a day trip to see the Alhambra at Grenada. From looking online it seems you need to reserve in advance and all reservations are booked up for months in advance....

Please tell me this is because tour companies snap up the reservations and I'll be able to book via a tour company when I'm there (the kind that sell by the side of the beach and take you on a coach trip)?

Thanks in advance!!!

Left it too late to book the 14 euro tickets. The only way to get in is by buying a tour ticket. Best to book online before you set off as there aren't gangs of touts outside selling tickets.

You can get up really early and queue. A coulple of our group headed up to the Alhambra for 6am to get there first for tickets. We had a bit of inside info and went to the automated ticket booths there and got them that way rather than queuing to buy them from the office. The only risk is your tickets are timed and they could
Be for later in the day.
Worked great for us and we had a fantastic day there!

You can buy a 40 euro Granada card. This includes Alhambra plus lots of other museums and some bus travel. You get in though

You can try online at midnight the day before as I think they release a few tickets then? Or get the Granada card as suggested. I did see some shops in Granada selling tickets but not sure if they would have ones at short notice. I booked online 1 or 2 days before but that was in January. Fantastic city, I loved Granada.

The only timed bit is the Nastrid Palaces where you get a half hour window to enter, to control numbers. If you get a morning ticket, you can go in the gardens and other buildings and stay all day. You can also buy a slightly cheaper ticket that doesn't include the palaces and has no time restrictions (NP are spectacular, but a relatively small part of the whole complex).

If you're staying in the evening, walk up into the Albacin from Plaza Nueva to the viewpoint to see the Alhambra at night. There's also a lovely square just before you get to the viewpoint with several tapas bars.

For anyone else who has trouble booking palace tickets I kept checking and eventually got tickets on Saturday for a visit yesterday. Went with my mum and DC aged 11 and 8. Was there about 3 hours and hardly saw anything apart from the Nasrid Palace due to poor mum’s replacement joints and kids waning interest. For euro 25 all of us (kids free) it was still well worth it. Will return for a longer visit child free in the future.
