Right, back again.

Its here!

We're going up on Friday, and I'll have my 'Virtual Mothers' badge on the buggy, so say 'Hi!' if you see me!

that would have tried my patience no end, robinw.

I've never had to queue for that long, mind you we've only gone in the spring or autumn, and it's usually rained heavily. Even then there were still queues, usually 10 minutes or so, apart from the rollar coasters which always seem to be busy.

BooMama · 02/09/2004 07:36

We've always gone on a weekday in term time and found it really pleasant - just rather busy in the toddler's areas! Now that ds is starting school we will have to visit with the masses and I'm not looking forward to it!!

AuntyQuated · 02/09/2004 09:04

we\are thinking of going, but live a long way off so would involve a weekend away. does anyone know the best way to do this? is one day there enough? where is the best place to stay? are packages worth the money?

robinw - we went on Tuesday - it was almost as busy as your day - gave most of the rides a miss as couldn't be bothered to queue. The kids had a good time though as they went in the playground, the maze, the water play area etc.

It was a cheap day out for us as we had free passes (and one Tesco vouchers one). Might have been annoyed if we'd paid full price to get in

lydialemon · 02/09/2004 09:58

I definitely picked a good day then! We went the same Friday last year and it was great.

The only time we had to queue longer than the length of the ride was on two of the more adult ones, and then it was only 20 minutes or so. It was raining when we first got there which might have helped.

is there plenty to do other than rides?

BooMama · 02/09/2004 10:14

How old are your children? There is a water play area which is great fun - bring a towel and either a change of clothes or swimsuits.
For the younger children there is a playground which was good. There were also puppet shows in that area.
There is the whole mini world area with the lego town models which is very good.
The older children would probably like the maze and there is a really big castle type climbing/sliding apparatus thingy!
When we went this year it was a special Knights weekend and they had falconry and jousting exhibits which were fantastic so I would really recommend going when they have something special on.
There was also a stunt exhibition several times a day with actors diving off a tower as part of a show.
The first time we went the queues were so long we only went on one ride but we still had a really full day.

AuntyQuated · 02/09/2004 10:17

thanks boomama - they are 8 and 5. a package for 2 nights and 1 day in LL would be about £250, is that OTT

pepsi · 02/09/2004 10:37

When we went in may we got a pass, which was all included in the standard price, to let us go anytime in June, July, after 4pm in Aug and any time in September. We are planning to go on Sunday so I guess lots of people will have the same idea now regardless of it being school hols or not. I expect yesterday many people went because it was the last chance before back to school. Im hoping everyone goes this week and leaves it empty for us on Sunday. If you have to wait you have to wait but I do think its wrong that these park ever let it happen in the first place. An hour wait for a 2 minute ride is outrageous really, its not so bad in theme parks for older kids cos they understand but for little ones it hard.....on them and us.

Hi AuntyQuated. Legoland is fab, and there's loads to do for 2 days. If you shop around for offers there's usually someone doing a fantastic deal on tickets (Air Miles or Tescos or Sainsburys or whoever). I'm sure you'd do better looking for a good deal on tickets then staying in a Travel Lodge or something, rather than going for an all-in deal.

The rides are not huge, so unlike Alton Towers your children will be able to go on everything I think.

We used to live a lot closer and have been 3 times when the children were much younger - the last time was nearly 3 years ago, and they still talk about it and can't wait to go back again one day!

My two loved looking round the Lego model villages for ages and ages, and you can look into the studios where the designers are building new models.

roisin · 02/09/2004 11:06

For example with Tescos vouchers you can get an adult day pass for £5.50 in vouchers (usually £22) and a child day pass for £4.90 (usually £19.50). So if you shop at Tescos and have enough vouchers you could have 2 adults and 2 children for 2 days for £42 in vouchers.

HTH

Posting this has made me want to go NOW! I better not mention it to the boys though, this morning when I told ds2 to put on his uniform he said "I don't want to go to school, I want to go to Ravenglass and go on the Ratty!"

Hulababy · 02/09/2004 11:10

We used some £10 tickets at the start of the school holidays this summer and we loved Legoland and had a great day. DD is 2 years old. Luckily we didn't have huge queues - the bigger rides were maybe 20 to 30 minutes or so, but I guess that is always going to be the case. DD could have spent hours looking at the model village, and in the water playground. We got there at opening time and left about 5 o'clock, having done loads. A great day :)
