Hi, Going to the south of france self-catering villa with 2.5y and 15 month DD's and DH. Do I take a double mclaren or just a single? Eldest still likes to go in especially when tired but i have heard the pavements aren't as big in france. should i buy another single? Also both in low toddler beds at home, do you think i should take ready beds as singles will be high and they will prob tumble out in the night. Any hints and tips welcome!!! - also if you know any child friendly places to visit in Antibes, nice beaches etc What to take on plane ( sorry i'm going on and on..) - thanks

We're staying here if anyone has been!

dont know about anything else but i would take 2 single buggies!

eh? the pavements aren't as big in France?! I haven't noticed!!

With a 2.5 yr old, I'd definitely want a buggy if you're planning to be out and about all day and she wants/needs to take a nap. Depends what you plan to do - if you're going to relax by the pool mostly then it's probably not worth bothering. If you don't want to take the double one, maybe you could get a cheapo travel buggy that folds up really small and doesn't weigh much.

You could take toddler blow up beds, ime, the floors in villas are often stone/tiled, and v. hard if you fall out!

Take snacks on plane to keep them happy. And water/milk, and new toys...

You'll have a lovely time...

mattresses on floor, how obvious is that?! I am dim!

Lulou · 13/06/2007 19:46

Might just buy another cheapy single - yeah was talking to a friend with twins and she said that the pavements weren't as big and you struggle with a double. Didn't think about it before that. Hopefully they'll sleep on the plane..

My only tip is... we have kids just about the same ages and after one disastrous trip abroad have decided we ain't holidaying anywhere further than a 4 hours drive for the next couple of years so we can pile everything we think we might need on dp's truck....
But we don't take double buggy on hols, take pram and buggy, so you might want to beg steal or borrow another buggy.

don't think there are any particularly nasty beasties in France. Worst probably mosquitoes, and they can fly!

Hi just got home from hols with three kids.
would take two cheap buggies as your good double buggy will get dirty on the plan and you will feed them in it sometimes, sand, sun cream etc.
Beware of taking fluids on the plane. Only baby milk is allowed and you have to taste it.
I wouldn't take to much hand luggage as you'll need your hands free. There be that excited with it all that they will be good and you can always buy what you need.
Make sure you take more clothes than you think you need unless you have a washing machine.
Have a great time!
