is there a bad time to visit mexico?

there is a particular resort i really want to go to in mexico but its going to take me a while to save - partner doesnt fancy going all that way in summer as the med is closer and just as hot and sunny -

so i was looking at sept/oct next year - it appears that its hurricane season and wetter weather around then though than other times.

would you or have you risked it? how was it?
thanks in advance.

We've been in Mexico at the beginning of September, and the weather was just starting to get 'tropical'....few downpours and the wind starting picking up. Few days after we came home, it really kicked off out there. Not sure if I would risk it, but will be interested to read replies from posters that have done these months

I went there in November (6 years ago now) and it was lovely. It was hot but bearable. I had just missed the Day of the Dead festival which I was gutted about as it looks amazing fun to be part off. I make sure to properly research anything that may be going in now so I don't miss out.

We have been there in April may June and twice in September.
I would not go again september as this year we had 3 full day of rain and 3 half days of rain you also have high humity my favourite would be may. going again next year in May

August to October is the main hurricane season on both coasts. So avoid this time.

sulflower · 10/10/2018 20:58

We went the first two weeks September and had amazing weather.

We went in late August and landed in a hurricane. Not fun. Other guests said they had a few days of it prior to that. We woke up the next morning and it was beautiful weather and stayed like that for the rest of our two weeks. Ultimately at that time of year hurricanes will always be a risk but you might be just fine!

The Carribbean and Mexican coast has two seasons - dry and wet. Wet season is between July and October / sometimes November and dry season is from November to June, which is why the cruise ships are all there during that time.
if you're going in summer (July - October) for say, a week, you'll get a mix of cloudy, rainy and sunny days in any combination so don't go expecting a week of sun.
If you're looking for luxury and sunshine, you could consider Tel Aviv or Eilat (Israel), Morocco, 5 star luxury in the Canary Islands, Zanzibar, Kenya coast or Dubai.
Please let me know if you need any detailed advice or recommendations. Good luck with your planning! Smile

I have been in April at easter time. They take easter seriously and the parade on Good Friday in Playa del Carmen was interesting for us to watch.
weather was fantastic

Well I've booked for June....I know this is the beginning of wet/hurricane season but seems not to matter!

Coppercolouredtop,
I've been in June for a week and had 5 days of sunshine and two overcast days, which is actually a respite from the heat.

jq28 · 26/10/2018 19:27

We went last December and it was about 28 in the day and a bit windy at night. Obviously went dark early but it was fabulous.

leghoul · 26/10/2018 19:30

My flights have been grounded a few times in hurricane season

Other than that anytime good
