Insurance for a family with a child with a health problem

Who do others use?

My youngest daughter has a rare skin condition which she is under the consultant dermatologist for. Although she never has she has a higher risk of anaphlatic (sp) shock and currently doesn't have epi pens. I obviously want us to be covered for our holidays this year, to Guernsey and also France. She hasn't had any reason to visit hospital due to her skin for anything other than routine appoitnments but should the need arise i want her to be covered.

jellyfish stings are one potential anaphlatic causer.

Greenbee helpfully list everything pre-existing that they will cover.

They are really helpful if you call them too.

I haven't actually taken out cover with them as DH's charge card has a very comprehensive policy but I wasn't sure if DD & I were covered on that to travel alone (we are) so I checked other policies out.

thanks

utacaria is on the list but not sure if she'd be covered so will give them a bell

tesco and zurich are also good - tesco covered a severe nut allergy for us at no extra cost and zurich are pretty good on what they cover. The greenbee policy mentions nut allergy as something that is covered so doesn't look like anaphylaxis bothers them.

Have you asked for an epipen if she's considered at risk?

thanks for that will check them out.

Re the epi pen, they're waiting to do some allergy tests to determine what her risk factors are, plus we have to see the allergist to get one.

if you get really stuck for insurance there is medi-cover.co.uk but they are a bit pricey. Take some pirtion on holiday with you. Guernsey is Uk, isn't it, didn't think you'd need insurance there?

We were recommended the post office. (It's me with the medical condition, though and was also pg at the time.) Doubled the cost of the family insurance, but overall cost wasn't too bad.

Columbus Direct.

Ds has nut allergies and has epipens. Used to have Tesco annual insurance but seemed to go up a lot this year. Changed to Columbus. Think it was about an extra £13 per condition. It was very reasonable for annual family travel insurance.
