Kids getting round London

Hi. I'm taking my DD10 to London for 2 nights. Going to get the London Pass as for what we want to see, we save a lot of money. I'm getting mine with a travel card. I now know that it's free for under 11's to travel on the underground and that you can buy a photo card for £10. I'm just wanting to know if we need this? The £10 is an administration fee and I won't be using it again until April and July next year so do we need it? She's average height for her age but I'm worried they think I'm attempting to dupe them. Any advice would be appreciated.

I've never had any problem with just using a gate and my kids walking through with me, no one has ever asked their age (and I live in London so have been on tube with kids countless times, eldest now 16 so has own pass but no issues aged 10 when I used to take her and her friend who was taller than me out!) To be honest stations are very short staffed now anyway. You could always carry so,etching with their age on if you're worried about getting asked. Enjoy your break.

Thanks for replying. You have put my mind at rest a little. I've sent off her passport as it needed renewing so I won't have that. She is smaller then me and I'm only 5ft 2 so I think we will be ok. Thanks again Smile

I would suggest The Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Gardens. We were able to visit there last year and it's great for kids because the park was inspired by Peter Pan. It fits for kids up to 12 years old. It is a safe, fenched area for families only.

My DD is also 10 & tall we've never been questioned so I don't think you need to worry but as a PP suggests, if it is going to worry you then take some form of ID (birth cert if you are renewing her passport?). The Diana Memorial Gardens are lovely & both my DDs liked them when they were little but sadly the allure of climbing pirate ships and running around play areas is now over for my 10 year old! Current favourites are the British Museum, rowing on the boating lake in Regents Park, theatre trips, Kidzania, strolling on South Bank & doing treasure trails (www.treasuretrails.co.uk - a great way to cover an area of London & learn something in a fun way - Greenwich is good!)
