Where would you recommend to stay in the Algarve?

We are goi g to Lisbon for a few dats next August and then traveling to the Algarve to relax by the pool. Can you recommend somewhere to stay that's not too busy but you can still walk to the beach or restaurants. I'm a bit worried that Vilamoura will be too expensive for eating out. And worries that Albeifura will be too Brits abroad!

We love spending feb half term in Alarve, been there 7 years and just love this place. We are after quiet areas but in the winter it's generally quiet everywhere. Vilamoura or Albufeira are not our fav but love Lagos and East villages (e.g. Tavira).
I'm desperately looking for hotel inspiration ( already booked flights). Must be by a stretchy beach and with indoor pool where kids are allowed. Anyone please??
So far stayed in Eurotel Altura, Grande Real Santa Eulalia and Villa Gale Lagos.

Just bumping this for recommendations for nice. less pricey restaurants around Villamoura, Olthos etc
