Help - how to get sand out of those lycra sunsuits?

has anyone got any tips? We've resorted to one person stretching (it's a bit like a bullworker - my pecs and delts have benefitted hugely), while the other pats and scrapes at the stretched fabric to knock the grains of sand out. Eye prtoection is required for both participants. DD appears to have brought most of Greece back with her.

any better ideas gratefully received

that sounds similar to my technique - you can try doing it underwater - use a abucket or you end up with a sink full of sand

Bear · 09/06/2007 16:16

do we both need to be under the water - snorkels or full scuba?

I just knew you were going to say something like that.

iota · 09/06/2007 16:18

seeing as iota was so [sarcasm] helpful, I'm bumping for weekdayers' advice - and I'll do the same for my lily beetles if you don't mind

Lost cause.
You will never get all the sand out.
It's like needles from the Christmas tree.

we have this problem with dd3's suit, and as it's pale pink in places it now looks like it has mildew!! i will be grateful if anyone does have a miracle treatment!

iota · 12/06/2007 13:09

oi Bear - I was helpful - doing it underwater stops the sand flying up and hitting you in the eye

Bear · 12/06/2007 15:16

I know you were - I experienced the sand in eyes phenomenon this weekend - we had both resorted to wearing sunglasses while doing it, but, somewhat ironically given my cheeky comment earlier, we'd have been better off with snorkel masks. Next time we'll do it under water - promise

ds has had a different one every year and this is the first time its happened - we usually buy in asda/tesoc but in a last minute rush we got it in Next - never again. from the first day of the holiday it looked old and dirty. - i might take it back.

TheDaVinciCod · 12/06/2007 23:38

dotn wea them
they are horrid

mumto3girls · 13/06/2007 10:59

dd3's came from Next. Hers looks horrible now!!
Cod - they are helpful though in keeping their shoulders protected cos our wriggly dd3 hates having sun tan lotion on and also it means they're not sticky all the time!!

Bear · 13/06/2007 12:32

cheers Cod - straight in the bin then. That's a weight off;)

can I second guess your advice on my lily beetle 'mare (Gardening thread) - "Don't gorw lilies - they are common" - thanks
