Anthony Gormley’s Another Place - the iron men on Crosby beach (weather permitting!) we were there last October on a golden day, my first time in Liverpool - stunning.

Ex directory for cocktails is fun.
Plenty of theatres to see a show, I like the royal court theatre as it tends to have local actors quite often.
And of course the Albert dock is great to potter around.

We loved the magical mystery tour but you need to be a Beatles fan.

The titanic exhibition is good too.

Crosby for Anthony Gormley statues is lovely and a contrast to the city. Take a Liverpool bus tour to see the highlights of the city and get your bearings.

Speke Hall

Just been

Tate Liverpool. - what a load of bollocks a room full of slight worn out cloths that a fiver year old would be proud of and a Perspex box with an inch of water where the highlights at least it was free. Reminded me why we only done Tate modern about 10 years ago. soap on a rope

Slavery / Martine museum - fascinating and free probably helps we are about to go to Ghana and massive links to the slavery trade.

Liverpool One - good cinema, lots of shops.

The Antony Gornley statues are good but a train or drive away same with Speke hall.

We ate in china town walked round the Albert dock

You’ve also got loads of other museums the two cathedrals. We’ve done shows on the past at the Everyman and a couple of others though sadly on this visit nothing on.

You’ve also got plenty of Beatles stuff with the story, the cavern, Hardman house - NT property like Speke hall.

I love the fact the Everton shop in Liverpool One is called Everton two. What a great address.

You’ve also got the arena with stuff on.

Cracking city.

Was thinking of going without taking the car..is it doable on foot /bus

lovelyupnorth · 16/01/2020 12:18

Yes city centre all compact and great Mersey rail if you want to go out to Crosby.

Funf · 16/01/2020 17:00

Having been to lots of big citys all over the world, we still find Liverpool is the best it has everything you need and is compact so easy with no car.

Or the Beatles stuff

Bold Street is good for eating walk to the top to see the Bombed out church then walk back down for food the Mexican La Parilla is excellent and usually in the top 5 on Trip advisor, Crust and Leaf are good too.
Personally I would do your home work and book things as it can be busy. Have a look at the shows on offer if that's your thing plenty of choice.
Its also a good base for going further afield, Blackpool ( Why any one goes is beyond me but you must, lights might be on?)
Chester is about 40 mins
North Wales about an hour.
If you are near the sea front it can be chilly so just bear this in mind

mirmc · 16/01/2020 23:01

Which would you recommend - The Beatles museum or the Magical Mystery Tour? Kids 12 and 9.

Funf · 17/01/2020 05:58

Unless they are fans I wouldn't bother
What about a Safari Park? Its a 20 minute drive out of the city, but check the traffic reports as if its peak times it would take about 40 mins.

They some times have an offer on in the winter its £20 for a car full up to 7 people.
Might be worth a look on your last day get up breakfast at Moose then off to the Safari on the way home as its next to the M57 motorway so easy route to the M62,M6 etc
