Going to Japan for 2 weeks next Easter with DH and our 14 and 10yr olds.

Only plan so far is to do a few days in Tokyo (fly into Haneda) then a week or so touring - Osaka, Kyoto and and maybe Hiroshima. Then do a few days again in Tokyo before flying home.

The only thing booked is flights and I am completely overwhelmed by the amount of areas and hotels and have no clue where to stay or what to be near?

Want to experience the culture, blossoms and do DisneyJapan and Disney Sea in Tokyo.

Don't really want to do low end or budget appreciate it's quite pricey but willing to spend a bit more - 4star ish.

Any advice will be so appreciated. Thank you.

it was supposed to be the holiday of a lifetime but am now trying to work out when we can get back

Yep! I went there for the holiday of a lifetime in 2010. Been back every year since! Of course i’ve now found much cheaper ways to stay there than that first trip. Like a pp, I always fill my suitcase with the things I buy there. I now travel light on the way just to have room to bring everything home! You will see things you never knew you needed but absolutely must have!

We want to go in July or August but we're concerned it may be too hot. Anyone been around that time?

hellypad · 09/09/2018 14:23

We were there this August, it was hot but not unbearable, we tended to go out after lunch then stay out till late, that way it was really hot to start with but gradually got cooler.

Hi folks

We've checked with the OP and we're moving this over to travel advice now - it's very useful. Smile

I used to work as a Japan Specialist for a large travel company, lived out there, worked there, studied there....my soul is there, my happiness is there, it's just the best country in the world lol, though I may be slightly biased. We're going soon too, we get to go pretty much every year, I never get bored of it! I hope you have the best time! :D

When you say you're going in Easter, when exactly were you thinking of? Cherry blossom season will have most hotels booked up, the flights will be rammed far in advance so def need to book asap.

ShoppingOnesSelfFit · 19/09/2018 16:18

I've booked flights and a house in Kyoto for the middle part - mid April - so blossom season fully fledged.

A lot of hotels appear booked already in Tokyo but I brelieve it's too far In advance to book some?

Thanks?
