Help me choose a destination...
Budget = £4K (pretty flexible) for 2 adults and two DC (age 12 and 14).
DC2 will be happy anywhere warm with a pool. DC1 (and I) want a bit more to explore. Easily accessible snorkelling and some interesting wildlife would be fab.

Just my opinion but surely it depends on where you go to in Malta or Cyprus? Malta does have some grI'm resorts & towns but some great ones as well & does get given a much harder time than it really deserves. If you do go to Gozo, I'd add in one night in Valletta when you arrive, it's lovely! I've been to Cyprus & I'd go Malta over Cyprus (completely & totally unfairly to Cyprus as my only experience of the country is a bad teenage holiday with my parents to a hotel from hell - cockroaches, food poisoning & my sister copping off with the waiter are all i can remember!). £4k will get you longhaul (I get the carbon emissions argument but then politely doesn't that extend to flying anywhere really?) on a budget. We (3 of us) have done Costa Rica in summer on (£3.5K) & we're going to Sri Lanka at Easter for less than £3K - both would hit your wildlife & beaches brief. Not sure if £4K would do it (it just might!)but snorkelling off Cozumel in Mexico was brilliant.
