We went to Rome and Pompeii with pre-teens and it was fabulous. I imagine teens would love it too. Loads to see, easy to get around, pizza and gelatti - what's not to like.

My two are 17 & 15 they love Puerto Del Carmen in Lanzarote. It’s the only place we have ever returned too.

The Italian Lakes are a very good option with teens because of the many varying theme parks and you can combine a trip to Venice and Verona... Croatia is good as long as you pick the right resort with watersports etc

Zeebee I’m sorry I only just st saw your question. I couldn’t recommend it highly enough. We flew easyJet in to Ljubljana, 2 nights there (fab small accessibly city with castle on a hill in the middle) in an Airbnb flat. Then we drove out vía Bled (stunning lake) to the Slovenian alps. A town called Bovec where we had booked in advance to do Canyoning, zip lining, white water rafting and mountain scooters. It was slightly outside my comfort zone but I did them all as did DH with the 4 kids and it was an unforgettable experience. The scenery everywhere you look is stunning! It was also an Airbnb place in Bovec and worked out really well. We then drove 6 hours down to Trogir in Croatia for 3 nights by the beach chilling! Something for everyone :-) (we flew home from Split)

Thanks bellylaughs that sounds very much up our street. Can I ask another question? We also have 4 kids but always been put off fly drives due to the cost of hiring a people carrier which has limited us a bit - was it outrageous there?

It was around £500 from what I recall. We didn’t need it the first couple of days In Ljubljana so that saved a bit.
