Hi

Where should we stay in the lakes and is good for small children both the place itself and the acommodation. Looking at a mid week break in sept for 2 nights.

Even other suggestions elsewhere welcome but we are NW based and dont want to travel for too long 2 hours 2.5 hours max probably

Not sure they are on the website yet as we had booked a room for 2 nights for a wedding and the groom was told we could change to an apartment for the same price so maybe worth a call to the hotel x

Mumsnet recommended The Lazy Fish, which was booked for when I wanted, but looks amazing.

We ended up staying in an interconnecting room at the Lakeside Hotel, which was really convenient for Lake Windermere and close to Beatrix Potter's house. It wasn't great for children re. meals though, so we ended up eating at the Swan Inn at Newby Bridge.

Depends what you want. You can’t go far wrong with Keswick or the outskirts things to do if wet.
Personally I prefer much quieter locations than Windermere.
Can’t recommend accommodation as we live too close. But the Eden Valley is also lovely as are the lesser known Western Lakes (not far from Ravenglass Railway, St Bees, Wastwater etc).

I've never been to the Lake District so can't advise on places to stay but a friend went and brought me back some gingerbread from the Grasmere Gingerbread Company which is divine!! Try to visit them when you go.

Have a look at review of Augill Castle
