For various reasons, summer has been tricky this year and we pushed our annual 'adventure' holiday back to October half-term, which is 29 October to 9 November. No problem, I thought - this actually gives us a bit more choice on where to go.
BUT we have a 5yo DD who loves halloween aĺmost as much as I do . 5 is pretty much peak Halloween age, and people go fairly all-out here. When I mentioned Autumn tonight, DD's face absolutely lit up with excitement about Halloween. I think she's been planning her costume all year.
I've messed up.
Holiday timing isn't changeable, but destination is still completely open. Can anyone suggest an interesting/adventurous holiday destination (not Europe or US) which is good to visit in October/November and which celebrates Halloween in a way which is accessible to children?
Mexico is the obvious choice, but not the best time of year to go there. Also I don't know whether the Day of the Dead celebrations are accessible to respectful visitors? (DD is pretty mature and adaptable for a 5yo - a different celebration would interest her).
I googled countries which celebrate Halloween, and China and Japan came up - but I do wonder whether they will just have a few shop windows and also dress-up parties for adults.
Anyone know otherwise or have other suggestions? Please help!
