First holiday with DD

We are off the Jersey with our 8 month old DD. Feeling petrified about flying as I don't like it myself. Have beed advised to give her calpol before we set off. Is this abit extreme? She doesn't have a dummy so am hoping she will bf as we take off/land as I hear this helps. I am expecting her to not sleep well when we are there with it being different surroundings. Am I being paranoid. On the pos side can not wait for her to see the beach and feel sand only hope she does not eat too much of it.

IMO no need for Calpol if nothing else is wrong. Jersey should be a short flight (unless you're flying from the Shetlands), i hope you have a good time.

I flew with my dd when she was very tiny and quite a few times in her first year. No need at all for calpol imo. If sh doesnt have a dummy then feeding on takeoff/landing is a good idea. My dd was absolutely fine, but if you're a nervous flyer yourself try and keep yourself calm otherwise she may pick up on your nervousness

Can't wait will be a completely different holiday to usual. Wasn't brave enough to go abroad but thought Jersey was a middle man. Only hope its not full of old people!

I have flown 6 times with DS (now 13 months) starting from when he was 3 months. It has been extremely easy every time and DS breastfed on takeoff and landing and seemed to suffer no discomfort at all - so no need for capol imho.

In fact IMO travelling with babies is actually EASIER because you get such a lot of nice special treatment!

No problems at all with sleep on any of the holidays - he was so tired by all the excitement he just conked out. But if she has her own room at home I would try to keep to that if possible - our only problems have occurred after DS moved out of our room at home and then we tried to sleep with him in our room on holiday and we were all too unused to it.

have fun!
