What do do with and afternoon and evening in Geneva?

We (me, DH and DD (6)) are staying in Geneva (at Ibis by the airport) for an afternoon and night next saturday prior to our flight home on sunday mid morning. We can check into our hotel at 12 and then plan to get the bus from the hotel into Geneva. Any recommendations of what to do with our time, including lunch and dinner. Not too £££ but appreciate it's Geneva. Any must sees for the afternoon. Unsure of the weather, there may be rain, but we are hardy! Can't wait, fly out on Sunday!

Geneva is gorgeous! Expensive yes, but mitigated partly by free public transport when you're there. When you get to the airport, if you need it you can get a free transport ticket that lasts 80 mins www.geneva.info/transport/free-ticket/ same website will show you the transport network - No 10 bus goes from airport to central area (around Bel Air)

Then your hotel will give you free passes for the rest of your stay.

If the weather is good, you might be happy just strolling around the centre and waterfront area, and look at the jet d'eau. Also the free travel pass entitles you to use the little ferries across the water to various parts of the city which your daughter might like.

Eating out is extremely expensive. With ravenous teenagers we found Chez ma Cousine about the best value, which is basically chicken and chips but in quaint atmospheric surroundings. There are a couple of branches in the city.

There's also a department store called Manor and the top floor is a big café style area, bit like a John Lewis café here, which we found to be good value.

Walk along the promenade (where there are often lots of street performers in the summer) to Jardin Anglais to see the famous flower clock. Ride the red and black mini train from the Jardin Anglais all the way down the left bank, to Geneve-Plage and Parc Eaux-Vives, with stops at the Jet d'Eau and Baby Plage along the way. Baby Plage is a sandy beach with grassy area, and lake swimming (cordoned off with floats). In the trees, kids can play on the tire swings, climbing rings and ropes. Relax with an ice cream or drinks at the snack bar next door.
Just east of the Jet d'Eau, you can rent pedal boats or motor boats, and go out on the lake (great exercise for the kids in pedal boats). Life jackets in kids' sizes are provided.
If you have time, wonder around the Old Town. You might find a carousel.
The fountain is illuminated at night, and can be seen from the lakefront all around the city.
