8mth old. Swimwuit or swim nappies and what about water for bottles?

Am going to Majorca in July with 7yr old DS and 8mth DD. Have never been abroad with a babe before and wanted some advice. Is it better to have swim nappies (and possibly get through 4 or 5 a day) which are a bit expensive over two weeks or a swimsuit with strong elastic and probably have to wash it out 2 or 3 times a day? Also as DD will still be having bottles can I use bottled mineral water to make up feeds (wouldn't be confident about tap water) or are there too many chemicals in it, in which case should I just resort to full cream cows milk for the fortnight? Any advice would be very much appreciated!

We went to Majorca last week with 6 mth old DS - had a lovely time!!! Just boiled the tap water for bottles and everything was fine.

I use the swimming trunks with tight elastic and a towelling water proof lining from Mothercare, and had no accidents.

Have a fantastic holiday!!

You can use bottled water. Some of them do have higher mineral contents. I think Evian is fine. Look for ones that say 'suitable for babies' as some do. In France, where I go very often, the bottles have a picture of a baby on them.

I don't think that full fat cow's milk would be a good idea as not enough nutrients.

Buy a reusable swim nappy.

Shouldn't use bottled mineral water, although in an emergency if you must then Evian is supposed to be the one to go for. Will you not have access to a kettle (or take a travel one), whereby you could boil tap water?

Agree with hana about reusing the swim nappies - we bought a 6-pack of huggies little swimmers or whatever they are called and they have lasted us over a year! Just rinse with clean water and dry on the radiator/balcony.

Re the water, buy the one with the lowest mineral content, as bristols says I think Evian is good, I boiled it as well just to be safe. DOn't know if thats the right thing to do but DS was fine.

I wouldn't use cows milk for an 8mth old, I thought they weren't meant to have it until they are a year.

Look out for special offers on the swim nappies, I have seen them at 2.99 per pack in Asda and sometimes they are reduced in various places. Better to buy more than you need here as when we went abroad they were trying to sell them for 15 Euros a pack which is scandalous.

We took ds to turkey last year when he was 5 month and just bought bottled water and boiled it first before we used it and he was fine.
I never thought about doing that with the swim nappies, i was throwing them out when he had come out the pool, wont be doing that when we go away next week
