Tips for driving to Loire campsite with young children!

We're off to Les Alicourts campsite next week, which is around 4.5 hours drive from Calais (getting the ferry). It's our first holiday involving a significant drive, and our 14m DD is not a huge fan of the car! We have ordered a dashboard sensor to try and avoid queuing at the tolls. Has anyone got any tips on where to stop en route, any games to play (apart from Peepo) that a 14m will understand, or any advice in general??! My 5yo DS will be happy with car games like eye spy and his ipad but he's an ants in your pants type, so sitting still for the best part of the day won't really suit his nature. Hit me with any ideas to make this less of an ordeal (at least in my mind!). TIA.

Drive at bed time so that the DCs sleep. Traffic will be lighter, queues shorter, and you won't need to stop if it's 4.5 hours.
We always used to drive to South of France overnight when DDs were small.

And Azay le Rideau chateau does a great son et lumiere.

Definitely get an audio book for the car journey. If you can get this before next week, it would be excellent www.thebookpeople.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/qs_product_tbp?productId=435116&catalogId=10051&catId=141710
Aire Assevillers on the A1 is large with good facilities and space to let off steam. High chairs in some of the cafes and baby changing.
