Has anyone used an inflatable foot rest for kids?

I've seen some ads for these to fill the foot space so a child can lie flat on a normal plane seat.Some if the brands are Plane Pal and Bedbox.

I'm tempted for flights to Costa Rica via Miami next year, but I'm not sure how useful they are.

I would really appreciate feedback if someone has used them before.

I would check with the airlines concerned and receive a written reply before purchasing.

Many airlines however, do not allow them for aircraft safety reasons and I certainly would not want to take this through Miami airport either (as you could well end up carrying the thing miles on arrival to immigration).

As Attila said, many airlines including British long haul ones do not allow these on board, as they have not been tested for safety for that specific aircraft or airline.

As above, also your child must be small enough that they would fit the space, small children are generally happy to curl up and fall asleep anyway. Unless they are not good sleepers, I. Which case this would be no use anyway

According to the ad I looked at BA do allow them (just not during take off or landing), although I suppose that's not from BA themselves.

I'm not so worried about carrying them (I was looking at the cheaper ones that fold really small anyway) but if they aren't helpful for getting the kids to sleep I probably won't bother.

We have Plane Pals and used them on Qantas and Emirates with no hassles at all. They really are fantastic. I'd certainly investigate as if allowed it makes a big difference to DCs comfort and sleep.

Don't be tempted by the cheaper models on Amazon. I've got the first class kids version and they are terrific . I have used them plenty of times and even now my kids are older they are still useful.

We bought cheap £30 inflatables. As long as they can be taken down and don't interfere with the seat in front, no issue.

They made such a difference especially for DD9. To tall to curl up, too short to get feet comfy. We flew from Vancouver with 2 sleeping kids. The previous flight back from family in Florida I had two crying kids.

The cheap ones wouldn't create a stable bed, but was enough let legs rest easily and good enough to do the job.

The 1stclass kids version is only 25 EUR fills the entire void between seats and blows up rigid like an airbed. My friend has plane pals which are bulkier (has a foot pump) more complicated and pricier.
Those bed boxes and slings look far too bulky and probably only good for tinys.

when you said 'first class' I thought you were desribing quality! Ours sounds the same thing, totally sufficient.

For those who have flown Emirates with these - did anyone say anything? What route did you fly? I had read that Emirates didn't allow them though it does sound like it depends on who your crew is.

I want one for ds and me (5 foot 2) but we always fly delta and they don't allow them.
