I've seen them in Iceland in January

Lucky you N33. A few years ago we went to Iceland in February hoping to see them but it was too cloudy the whole time. I liked Iceland though.

I know someone who took a Hurtigurten cruise and saw them. Apparently if you don't they offer you another cruise for free!

I have been researching . I am looking at stuff to do there so it doesn’t feel a wasted trip if we don’t see them

Iceland! Amazing country. I saw them there in November. It was an amazing holiday and if we hadn’t seen them I’d have been fine with what I did see. However we had a car and followed the chances from this website noting activity and cloud cover. en.vedur.is

Iceland is very expensive for eating out. (VERY] self catering is a good option

Thank you I will take a look at self catering

You can go on an organised trip at night to see them. Usually, if you don't see the lights, they take you again the next night for free, so don't save the trip for your last night.

We went to Finland 3 years ago. The holiday included loads of snowy activities: reindeer sledging, husky driving, snowmobiling and cross country skiing (optional), plus other optional activities.

We went in February, which IMO is the best time to go because you get 8 hours of daylight. The hotel was in a village 100km from the nearest town so there was hardly any light pollution. We just climbed the hill behind the hotel to see the aurora borealis. It was a brilliant memorable holiday.

We saw them in February. There is so much to do - fabulous country

We went to Sweden place called Abisko.

Small village not much light pollution. Plenty of activities in the day to do and saw the lights we went early March.
