Waddesdon Manor has great playgrounds for all ages. Last time I was there a school party of older teenagers were thoroughly enjoying themselves.

Anglesey Abbey is amazing for kids. It has tree houses and hammocks and an eco toilet and all sorts. Plus the shop and cafe are very nice. And the house is really interesting.

There is a huge field at Attingham with lots of lovely play equipment and mazes and tunnels made out of natural stuff like wood and vines etc. There is deer feeding and adventure trails as well as farm animals to feed.

Tatton Park in Knutsford has quite a lot for children in addition to the Hall itself. There is an adventure playground and a farmyard with lots of farm animals. Also acres of space to run around in.

Lyme Park in Cheshire is lovely and also has a Wardrobe Department so you can dress in period costume (adults as well as children!)

Quarry Bank Mill also in Cheshire has lots of hands on exhibits to interest children and the Apprentice House is very interesting too.
