We're flying to an Air BnB in Corsica with our 3 teenagers, we arrive on the Saturday evening and the shops don't open until Monday morning.
Obvs I will pack tea bags and Marmite but what to do about fresh milk? How to feed the hungry mob that first day?
Any top tips?

Can't you eat out on the first day?

UrsulaPandress · 22/07/2018 08:54

Are there no restaurants and cafes open?

bluerunningshoes · 22/07/2018 08:54

does the bnb offer a welcome pack?

does the airport have a supermarket?

LoniceraJaponica · 22/07/2018 08:56

Surely there will be somewhere you can buy milk on the Sunday

MongerTruffle · 22/07/2018 08:59

www.carrefour.fr/magasin/ajaccio-2

The Carrefour hypermarket is open until 21:30 on Saturday, and from 08:30 to 12:30 on Sunday.

Canshopwillshop · 22/07/2018 09:00

I’ve just quickly googled and apparently the big supermarkets are open til 1pm on Sundays in high season.

Roystonv · 22/07/2018 09:03

Pretty certain Calvinists supermarket is open Sunday am

Roystonv · 22/07/2018 09:04

Calvi ffs

sashh · 22/07/2018 09:11

Check for airport shop. Either arrival or departure?
Ask the host to buy a few supplies, send them some money to cover it.

Not the same but put some UHT milk in your checked luggage and some light (as in weight) snacks such as crisps/pringles.

If you are in a tourist place there will be cafes open.

maryrosa · 22/07/2018 09:21

Ah this is all very reassuring. I was just going on what the Air BnB host has told us. My daughter speaks french so I will get her to research the Carrefour link. Calvi is a bit of a drive but I would move mountains for a proper cuppa!

We were in corsica in april so low season and i found shops much more likely to be open on sundays than mainland france. We had no issues. There will be a supermarket or shop or restaurant in driving distance im sure.

Corsica is incredible by the way. Supremely beautiful

Imchlibob · 22/07/2018 11:16
  1. ask your airbnb hosts what other guests usually do? They may be prepared to provide a bag of basics for a fee.

  2. eat at restaurants and cafes till the shops open?

fuzzyduck1 · 22/07/2018 20:24

Fill up with them funny toasty things off the plane

reluctantbrit · 23/07/2018 16:22

I would ask your host for a small filled fridge like loaf of bread, milk, butter, bottle of water. We often do it and just settle the bill on arrival.

Otherwise just eat out and enjoy the experience.

ForalltheSaints · 25/07/2018 21:19

A place with limited shopping on Sunday- how lovely. Hope you have a lovely time- Corsica is one place I would love to visit sometime.

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 30/07/2018 20:34

Corsica is beautiful but not been for years so can't comment on Sunday opening hours there, but we've always found somewhere open Sundays in other holiday destinations. Worst case - pop into a cafe, bar or restaurant and ask them to sell you a glass of milk! We got a bar to lend us two wine glasses for the duration of our holiday once!
