Where is your favourite place on the Costa Del Sol?

We have just come back from Nerja, (first time on the Costa Del Sol), and loved it. Frigiliana we thought was gorgeous also.

We plan to return very soon to the CDS, maybe later in the year, so we are looking for ideas on where else to go. Any ideas please?

Is Estapona on Costa del Sol? I know a lot of people who like it there. Marbella always seems too TOWIE

LoveManyTrustfew · 22/07/2018 23:04

Yes it is, I have yet to go there.

I made the fatal mistake of going to Nerja fourteen years ago and that as they say was that.

Redtartanshoes · 24/07/2018 12:54

Think I was in Nerja the same time as you Crumbs. Absolutely loved it.

Where did you stay?

Redland12 · 24/07/2018 15:07

Nashvillequeen, honestly it’s not like towie, probably Nikki beach end, but Marbella is a beautiful place, fabulous restaurants, cafes and beaches. Lovely walks. I have never seen people like the cast of towie there. Give it a try. 🌷

OMG, I forgot about this thread, so sorry !
@Redtartanshoes, I stayed in the Riu Monica, liked it very much, the bars opposite were good, where did you stay? Xxx

@crumbsinbed we were in flamenca it was lovely, very few children. Nice walk to bars of an evening 👍🏽

CrumbsInBed · 29/07/2018 19:16

@LoveManyTrustfew😂

I know which bar you mean, the one that does the 5 tapas and beer for 11€? I think it was called the Biznaga.

Sorry @TwoGinScentedTears, you’re probably there now, but we quite like Cochran’s bar, fab views and food not bad, background music good. Not sure what it was like in the evening, though. Sandwiches and burgers 🍔 good xx

I agree Redtartanshoes. Glad you loved it, we definitely did. Definitely nice walk of bars, we’re you anywhere near us then? We were opposite the Ship and Sarah and Manolo’s bar. Very friendly 🙂.

@NotPennysBoat we have been looking at Estepona today, I think that could be our first port of call when we stay at the CDS next 🙂.

And Fuengirola. That’s two years sorted 😄.

We live in Spain and are Spanish speakers (DH Spanish) so not necessarily looking for the same thing as Brits on holiday, but we went to Almuñecar last year (have always gone to Huelva province before) and loved it. It's the Costa Tropical (Granada province) rather than the CDS, but is lovely.

golondrina · 04/08/2018 15:58

Maybe a bit Spanish for you though.

CrumbsInBed · 05/08/2018 07:39

@Thanks Golondrina, it’s good to hear about places that are not the obvious ones 🙂

Nerja - was married there in El Salvador church ❤️.
Love Almuñécar , Estepona. I’ve not stayed in Torrox but quite a few people I know go there.
Salobreña is not touristy but a lovely place .

We stayed here, www.hotelalbayzindelmar.com/ it was lovely. A bit kitsch in a way but really nice with big apartments but hotel facilities. 10 minute walk to the beach and old town. There's a small castle and parrot park and a water park nearby. It's a proper Spanish town, not heaving with Brits. We really liked it. La Herradura a bit further along is said to be nice too. Beach is shingle but the water was lovely.

The Costa de la Luz is lovely too, especially the Cádiz bit: Conil de la Frontera, Chiclana de la Frontera, Zahara de los Atunes, Barbate, all around there.
