Honeymoon with 5 month old

So - we are getting married 3months after our first baby is due, wedding all booked and plan when this little surprise happened!

The question is - we are going on honeymoon in August and restricted to just that month as my partner in military. Where would be best to go with a 5 month old baby? We are happy to fly long distance as we have family in oz so baby will be a frequent flyer but just wondering if anyone has any baby friendly recommendations. My plan is to still be breastfeeding at this point also x

As you're restricted to August, why don't you just honeymoon in Europe somewhere beautiful like the Amalfi Coast? The temperatures will be warm and the flight with a 5 month year old will be a lot easier! I take your point that you'll be flying to Oz with your child so will have to do long haul at some point but why not make life easier for yourself and go somewhere suitably glamorous and relaxing on the Continent for the honeymoon? Until you've experienced the first 12 months with a baby, you've no real idea of how exhausting it is (I personally was clueless!). I took my eldest DD when she was 6 months to Trinidad and Tobago and the flight was hell as was trying to keep her cool

We honeymooned when our baby was the same age, which was wonderful though I'd do a few things differently in retrospect. I would also recommend Europe because of the impact jet lag may have on the baby, combined with the 4-month sleep regression! I would also suggest making sure you stay somewhere family friendly rather than catering just for couples - our most romantic hotel was the most stressful as our little one was the only baby there so we were super conscious of her disturbing other people's romantic meals! Also look for a room with a terrace/lounge area so you can order room service if your baby refuses to play ball in the evenings!
