Where will be hot in easter hols?

We are looking at holidays for easter 2019 but are struggling to find anywhere which will be hot but not more than a 7 hr flight. Where would you suggest please?

We went to Dubai this year which was amazing but don't want to spend £6k again. The year before we went to koz and although the weather was hot the pool was freezing.

So looking for an all inclusive or half board, with plenty for 4 and 6 year old to do with pools, beaches, easy access to places.

Canaries
Maybe Cyprus
Turkey
Northern Africa
Other middle eastern countries

Thanks for suggestions. Had a look and canaries really not that hot. Not sure about North Africa, are areas safe?

May I ask how hot Dubai was? I'm planning on going there at Easter next year.

Easter is quite late next year so Canaries should be hot enough.

Look for a hotel with a heated pool, many hotels heat the pool for at least November to April.

Canaries should be warm and sunny at Easter, expect low to mid 20s. Even in summer you don't get extreme heat like the mef.
The sea however is cold and you need a heated pool. Some islands are windier than others.

I’ve always ended up doing the slightly longer flight and getting guaranteed sunshine - Europe is too risky/cool in easter.

Florida or Antigua are our favourites for an Easter break but they aren’t the cheapest, think you could get for sub-6k though.

Was hoping for hotter than 22c which is what a quick google search says.

Would love to do Florida or Antigua but think flight is too far, just been to the Dominican Republic which was just over 8 and although fine felt too long with dcs 5 and 3.

Think Dubai was middle to late 20's and cloudy on a few days. Perfect temperature I thought as hot but not too hot so could sunbath and kids happy in pool but not constantly worried about them burning. Keep checking prices for where we went in March for next year but can't justify the prices of want summer hol too.

Cape Verde will be hot but windy and there’s nothing there, if you want to chill out in a hotel it would be fine but not much else to do.
Egypt will be hot and great value, Cyprus has had good weather st that time of year recently too but not guaranteed.
If it’s guaranteed weather you want then Egypt or Long Haul really. Why not still head to the Emirates but do it cheaper - Ras El Khamai is decent value or maybe Abu Dhabi?

Yes was Abu was cheaper but still guaranteed sun?

Is Egypt ok to go to now? Thought it was a bit dodgy.

There are no flights into Sharm still but Luxor has been back on sale for ages and Hurghada never went off. FCO advice has always been about issues with airport security rather than any inherent danger in the resorts. It’s definitely worth a look if you want a nice standard at a good price. 5 Egypt isn’t the same as 5 Dubai but there are plenty of really nice hotels.

Abu Dhabi very similar weather to Dubai really, average mid to late twenties that time of year with very occasional spots if rain.

Went to canaries this easter. It was not very hot and the wind was awful. Cardies/jackets in the evenings. We won't be going back.

LadyGAgain I was in Canaries in March and it was just perfect for me. Am currently there again, where it's not as hot as UK Grin. Suits me, I love the climate here but if you want to toast yourself in the sun it's probably not for you.

Another vote for Egypt. Hurgada.

Thank you for your opinion @Grazias . Personally I don't like to have goosebumps when I get out of the pool. I don't want to wear cardigans at night. It's a personal choice. It wasn't a slight on your own holiday but OP was asking for experiences. I don't like to bake myself either but I find my factor 30 and a warmer climate with no ferocious wind is just fine. As a side note, my best friend was in Lanzarote in March (we went to canaries in April) and she sent back pictures of her in ankle boots, leather jacket and jeans for the evening and didn't swim or go in the sea once so please share where your micro-climate was as others would love to know I'm sure.

Hurghada would be my choice - yes it’s safe, guaranteed good weather, lots of choice of 5 star AI hotels, lovely people.

I go back and forth to Egypt a lot with work and have been to the pyramids it's fine security wise. I would recommend taking a tour bus (eco tours were great) as you can a personal tour guide and you see all the sites in one day Memphis, step pyramid and Giza (they also allow the minibus into the pyramid complex whereas if you go alone you have to walk and with DC it's advisable).

Actually being a tourist in Cairo at the moment is fab as you get treated so well, for instance we got to drive right up to the entrance of a historic site rather than walk miles as they saw I wasn't Egyptian (I completely understand how crap that is for the locals!). They've also recently introduced a new law where vendors can't hawk their gear so they can have a stall but can't hassle you basically.

Putting vote in for Oman, same temp as Dubai but not as developed, if you're willing to do a little bit of travelling it's an incredible country. Depends on how old your DC are but lots of activities (mountains, wadi walking/swimming, whale watching from capital) and the locals are really lovely, they also have some of the best turtle beaches in the world which is an incredible experience.

Haha sorry RTFT!! Would be great for 4 & 6 DC :)

A lot will depend on when your Easter holidays are next year as Easter it’s self is the end of April but I know our school is off early April and then back before Easter.

Cyprus was roasting at Easter this year. We went hoping for 20 degrees but it was nearer 30 some days.

Report
mrsnec · 14/07/2018 06:28

Cyprus was hot this easter but it was still too cold to swim in the sea or in the pools in my opinion.

Don't rule it out though, if you haven't been before there's loads to do and see and Easter is a big festival for the Cypriots. If swimming is a must pick a resort hotel with an indoor pool.
