Ideas for Japan?

Hi there,
I was wondering if anyone had any good tips of things to do in Japan?
I am planning a 2 week trip there with my husband and my daughter (who will be nearly 18 months old) at the time and was wondering if anyone had any must sees or recommendations.
We will be going to Tokyo, Hiroshima, Osaka and Kyoto.
So far I know we would like to go to a Maid cafe, DisneySea, Studio Ghibli museum and if possible a Tea Ceremony.
Thanks so much in advance!

If you have time while in Hiroshima, head over to Miyajima Island for a day or spend the night there in a traditional ryokan. It's lovely and if you're going to do the museums in Hiroshima you will need some loveliness to lift your spirits!

We're here at the moment (stuck in Hiroshima because heavy rains have caused a landslide and the Shinkansen line is closed). It's been an amazing trip - the bamboo forest in Arashima (near Kyoto) was lovely and there is a monkey park next door (closed because of the rain). Would give disneysea a miss personally - great landscaping but the rides are dull and underwhelming and it seems an expensive venture to access a ton of Disney shops. In Gion you can catch a short 50 min show which covers most of the main ancient art forms and a Maiko dance - trainee geisha. We went to a rabbit cafe in Tokyo (Spanish street near Shibuya crossing) - great fun. This is an amazing country - the food, the welcome and the geography and culture make it a fab trip. Is rainy season here at the moment but the tail end of a typhoon has wiped out most of the transport links for a few days - you can avoid by going in spring or autumn - cherry blossom or leaf foliage is fab. Sorry - discombobulated by transport faff so is patchy response - have fun planning Grin
