They are doing a two for one offer at the moment on PGL, so have (more or less on a whim) booked for dd's to go the first week of the summer holidays. It was a real bargain - £500 for the 2 of them.

Anyway, just wondered whether any of your dc's have been? Any hints or tips? Things to take, things they won't need...

I'd rather not hear any disaster stories as it is already booked...

Mine went in year 6 from school, DD wasn't looking forward to it, but ended up having a ball. So much so, they both went on a few more and to France in the summer 3 times. DS went on lots of the skiing ones, every year until he was 16

Good age supervision, my DN 14 is going this year on a sailing one. No one I know has any horror stories about PGL!

I always used to book 2 for 1 in the October for the following year. Once you have been you will get sent good offers.

My children would reccomend it How old are your DD's?

emsiewill · 26/05/2007 07:04

The dds are (or will be) 8 & 10. Not at all worried about them going away on their own - firstly because they are used to being away from us (albeit staying with grandparents), and secondly because they will be together.

I am actually really jealous - I never had the chance to do anything like this when I was a kid.

I would have sent them on the French one as they were doing a "buy one get the other for £50" on that, but dd2 will not be old enough.

Thanks alibubbles (why up so early - or are you in another timezone nowadays?).

Anyone else?

Hi emsiewill - I can't sleep, came out of hospital on thursday after a GA and feel a bit restless. DH snoring so came downstairs and what else to do? Go on mumsnet!

Again, DC's had a brill time, just asked DS and he says they'll have a great time, thoroughly reccomends it and would consider becoming a groupie - he is a ski instructor.

I went on a PGL holiday when I was 11 with my step-sister and had an absolutely brilliant time (though my step-sister was a bit of a PITA but that's a different story!) Would highly recommend it am sure your dd's will love it..P.s you worked out who I am yet emsie?!

My dd is going on an activity weekend this summer - it's being organised and paid for (brill ) by a congenital heart disease charity. I'm really hoping she'll enjoy it as she isn't usually able to access this sort of stuff.

Funnily enough I went when I was at school I'm 35 now so things may have changed a bit now ...!!

But I really loved it...I got into fly fishing for rainbow trout in this big lake and famously fell in with my funky red satin shorts on - which I think were very cool at the time!! Any way the fish had swallowed the hook so they said we couldn't throw it back in as it would die, instead we cooked it on the campfire that night. It was great all singing songs then blistering the inside of mouths marshmallows toasted on sticks !!

Yes fond memories indeed.

I hope your kids will remember it fondly too !

DSs have been to Dalguise. They loved the activities but DS1 felt he didn't get enough to eat. He was a bit older than yours, so maybe at the growth-spurt stage.
