Hi all
Situation is the following:
DH and I come from an EU country and live in England.
DH and DS have double citizenship, I'll have my ceremony in one month.
I am going to travel tomorrow to our country for holidays, with DS and visiting DF. DH stuck here with work another couple of days. DS has DH's surname but both parents' name are on both DS's passport. What else do we need? Should DH sign a letter and should it be validated (police, etc?). I can show marriage certificate and DS's birth certificate but now I'm panicking. Thanks!

I've traveled alone with my son plenty of times within the EU. I've never been asked but carrying a letter is recommended. No need to have it validated. I just photocopied the father's passport onto the back of the letter

If the child is old enough to talk, they tend to ask him directly of you are their mother.

Well, he will be 1 in 3 days, he can say "ma-ma-ma" but I don't know if they 'll trust that!

I'll get DH to sign a letter then. Thanks!

DH took DD to see the grandparents in Germany.

He took a letter from me and DD's birth certificate and our marriage certificate are uploaded in a digital "safe" anyway so if issues DH would just download them.

Nothing was required at all. I know several friends who fly/travel with just the children. They do take a letter and copy of passport but in Europe nothing was ever asked.

The US is stricter and I know a colleague with family in Israel gets questioned (well, the children now as they are older) why mummy is not there but nothing else.

Safely arrived! They just checked DS's passport before security check, when adults just scan their boarding passes Smile

Thanks!
