Need a bit of advice about flying with an 18 month old. We are looking to book for next summer when our son will be 18 months old. We cannot book a meal on the flight for him - to egypt so 9 hours - they have advised us to bring our own food. I know that you can take baby food on a plane but is this purees etc? as at that age he will be eating normal food and worried if i pack food it will be confiscated!

I know this is really early to be worrying but i like to plan in advance lol

We always take food on board at Manchester too, normally big tubs of Pringles as the ones you get on board are extortionate! Are you sure that happened at Manchester and not the foreign airport as they may prohibit foods going into their country?

Fly with my dairy free toddler a couple of weeks ago. I took her a ham sandwich, boiled eggs, blackberries, pombears, organic cereal bar thing and chocolate buttons for when I reached breaking point. It was no problem.

I took dairy free sweets and chocolate in the suitcase for holiday as she could not have ice cream.

We fly from various airports 4 or 5 times a year and have taken anything from a bar of chocolate to a full picnic lunch and have never had anything confiscated

I've flown with ones that age and brought- crackers, cheese, wotsit type crisps, fruit and wraps.
My 13 year old was on a flight a few months ago with the school and it was packed lunch heaven Grin.

Funny enough I'm heading away in a few days with my kids and have just got some bits and pieces in for them for the flight - Pringles, toasting waffles (they like them non toasted), plain biccies etc. We're arriving quite late and its easier to feed them snacks than try and feed them when we arrive.

We fly from Belfast and never had a bother taking food and they're usually not behind the door about binning stuff you can't bring.
