Harrods toy dept and a milkshake in the Planet Harrods cafe

Fimbo · 24/05/2007 13:45

Thank you. Never thought of taking the dc to Harrods before, very good suggestion.

We went to the Natural History Museum last year and ds screamed the place down going past the life sized dinosaur model (how come the walk past seemed to last a life time?).

Science Museum Interactive thing but not at half term. Apparently 3.30pm term-time is the quietest time to go as the school trips have left by then.

Fimbo · 24/05/2007 13:59

Thank you - we are going next week for half term, so no avoiding the crowds unfortunately.

Discover in Stratford

different and just right for this age group

Yes yes to Harrods toys and the Science Museum. Harrods toys is much less hellish than Hamleys. Battersea park is nice too.

giraffe chain of restaurants is good for kids and decent food too!

The children I care for loved going to Greenwich seeing the National Maritime Museum. They are (g4, b2) both transport fans, so loved travelling around London on Train, Bus and the Docklands Light Railway. They also liked walking under the Thames (Island Gardens to Greenwich), playing in Greenwich Park.

Ooh, I would choose the Aquarium followed by lunch at Gabriel's Wharf, where there is a good pizza place (details here:www.littlelegends.biz/items/60729)

oooh, we just did a day out in London, with my 3yr old and 17 mth old; we took a ferry from Greenwich pier to the London eye; then walked down the south bank - slowly cos of all the entertainers/street jugglers etc; crossed the bridge and walked up to Covent Garden, again to watch entertainers in the piazza; Ferry back to Greenwich - saw the Cutty Sark before it burnt down

then had late afternoon/early evening picnic in the park, played footie and chase;

fabulous day! xx

Canary Wharf is quite fun - Docklands Museum has a great soft play area and the museum is good as well (nothing to break) and there is a big square with a fountain in it that the LOs can play in.

Somerset House on a hot day has a fabulous fountain as well.

Tate Britain has holiday activities you can pre-book.
