Rooms on cruises - where are we going to put everyone?

It’s our first time and I am getting confused with the logistics of the rooms we will need. I was hoping there may be interconnecting rooms but I can’t find any? Our family group is myself and dh, ds 20, 17 and 10 and dd 15. I know the rule is you have to have an over 18 year old in the room. How would you do it? I am guessing you don’t spend much time in your cabins? My dh and I were hoping for sometime alone in our room sometimes but seems like we will be sharing with our 10year old?

Kids club is open until 11pm and they can’t leave until you check them out, so can’t leave without an adult.
He will love it there and beg to stay if he’s anything like my kids, so you get your alone time in the evening, collect from kids club late night, then just sleep in the cabin midnight ish until 8am. Kids club then opens again at 9.30am, and once again kids beg to go all day as they have a ridiculous amount of fun!
Alternatively could all 4 kids not go in one cabin together? As long as there’s an over 18 year old. There’s usually 2 single beds and 2 upper Pullman’s?

What are the sizes of the rooms? If there is a four berth then all the children in together (with 20yr as the adult) and you get a two berth.

I didn’t mean time without the dcs in the day. I meant some time in the erm ..... bedroom. I don’t think my dd would want to share a room with her older brothers. Do they have family rooms?

Well yes, you’ll just have to have your bedroom activities about 10pm and then grab him from kids club at 11pm!!! Don’t know of any family rooms. I think p&o have a couple but they are ridiculously expensive. They have a separate kids bedroom.

Who are you hoping to sail with? Different lines have different options in the family room/interconnecting cabin department.

If all else fails a cruise specific forum might be of better assistance Smile

Haha gaze I think I have made myself seem like a complete pervert now!! Was thinking of Royal Caribbean as our friends have been with them and recommended them. The ships look amazing.

Book two family rooms - you and DH with your 10 year old, You can do a family room for four of you but I wouldn't recommend it as you won't have much space with four beds (two bunks)

Book a family room for you, DH and your 10 year old
Book a family room for the 20, 17 and 15 year old.

Book a lovely cabin with a balcony for you, DH and dd.
Then book a inside cabin directly opposite for the boys. Or two inside cabins, with dd and youngest ds sharing.
That way the DC may all socialise in one of their rooms, you can all have family time in your room with the extra advantage/space of the balcony too, and you may get alone time in your room too.
Though once on board there is so much going on you might start to feel a bit annoyed that you're not getting any family time together at all!
