We're recreating Richard Ayode's Travel Man - any ideas for non standard stuff (I've done the usual stuff, the only thing I have promised him is Nou Camp) or absolute must sees? We are staying near Marina for 3 nights. Was wondering about the cable car. He is less keen (what a surprise) on galleries and museums. Bikes? Best food? Thank you !

Take the blue tram up to Tibidabo and visit the old style funfair at the top. The views are incredible and it’s proper old Barcelona history.

St Joseph Mercat on Las Ramblas is a great place to wander and try different foods.

We love the Barri Gotic and could spend days just wandering through the wee streets around there and nearby the Cathedral.

Plaza Reial is a great location for food.

The Chocolate Museum is fun - very impressive chocolate sculptures.

Eyescream and Friends ice cream parlour is great fun.
Excursions Barcelona is highly recommended for it's evening bike tours. Helmets are included, groups are small and most of the tour sticks to bike lanes. The pace of the tour is reasonable and the guides are excellent. You get to see the Magic Fountain light show too.

Take your DS to Santa Catarina Market. His eyes will be on stalks!
La Nena chocolateria started out as a chocolate cafe and got a name for itself by serving the best churros and hot chocolates. It's diversified into salads, sandwiches and burgers too, but I defiantly recommend the churros!

Thanks both. These are great suggestions. I will try them!

Oh and Papabubble - how could I forget?! It’s a tiny wee shop which hand makes hard boiled sweets. The flavours are amazing and it’s brilliant to watch the staff at work. You can stand there and watch them from start to finish. (And if you hang around long enough there are often freebie offcuts to be had.) Definitely worth a visit - a real hidden treasure
