All inclusive holiday

Hi all,
We’re thinking of an all inclusive holiday next year April, but have never done this before so no idea what to look out for. Any advice or tips much appreciated!
We’re thinking of a 1 week holiday during the Easter break (1-15 april), with 2 dds (11 & 9).we normally have camping holidays in the UK or France, which we enjoy, but I’d love to go somewhere warmer, sunnier and where we don’t have to prepare food. Where would you go in April and expect decent weather? Cyprus or Greece, or would we need to look further south?
Any tips/advice welcome!
Thanks

Look at the Canaries Island. Early April is still cool and rain possible.

Ricekrispie22 · 17/06/2018 07:41

Cyprus will be about 20 degrees on the coast, warmer in land. The Canaries won't be much warmer.
Think about what activities your DD will want to do. Do they want an organised club or good swimming facilities? If they want a club, do they want to stay together or get split up? This needs to be considered when looking at the age groups for kids clubs.
Also consider whether you'll leave the resort much. You might want to check how far the resort is from shopping areas, nearby days out, the beach etc... If you want to use the beach a lot, look at whether your resort has a special area designated on a particular beach with sun beds and snacks/drinks included in your AI package.
Another factor to consider is whether the resort offers airport transfers and if so, are they included.
Personally I prefer half board. We have a big breakfast and then if we're peckish, we can find a new restaurant for lunch and if not, a snack might be enough.

Also AI is killing a lot of resorts. Go Half board and help the local economy.

For me we always self cater but often eat out that way we get to enjoy a really great range of food and not feel like you have to stuff yourself at every meal.

Thanks for your replies, some good points for us to think about - don’t want to kill off local businesses at all, and love local cuisine, so half board might suit us better. I can also not imagine wanting to stay at the resort, so will look carefully at the location.

Any ideas about price range for a week during Easter With half board - would less than £2500 be reasonable?
Thanks again!

I would go here. www.h10hotels.com/en/tenerife-hotels/h10-costa-adeje-palace/rooms
A week in your date is 1500 euro once discount is applied and this leaves your a budget fro flights.
I have been there several times. It has a heated pool and an indoor pool. Plenty of small restaurant at la caleta nearby, a nice walk on the beach

We did Fuertaventura for a week leaving on the 1st April AI for £2300 for 5 of us going to Corralejo. We didn't use the kids clubs and did eat out a couple of times but the weather was 22-24 degrees and warm enough to swim in the sea and sunbathe. I enjoyed it because although the resort was open it wasn't heaving and you could pick and choose where you went.

Look at Magic natura Benidorm

Great place safe clean water park and zoo plus free daily bus to the local shops.

45 mins Alicante airport

What do you want to do when you get there? In April the pools could still be pretty cold (even in the Canaries) so if you are planning to lie by the pool while the kids splash around you might be disappointed.

Saying that, Tenerife or the Algarve have plenty to do outside of the hotels so if you are happy to be out and about it could be a great choice. Lots of fantastic and very reasonable AI hotels in Turkey but many are quite isolated and nowhere really to walk to.

SmokyRobinson · 17/06/2018 21:33

Thanks for the links, I’ll be checking them out.
22-24 degrees sounds lovely, we like swimming and beaches, some hiking, or wandering around little towns. I think we’re quite easy going as long as there’s a variety of places to explore and things to do. Never went to very touristy places, so it will probably be a different kind of holiday then we’re used to, which is great.
Thanks again for your input x

Benidorm might be cold. Before moving to Sydney, we were 5 years in Barcelona, so I have seen my share of April weather. Can be great or miserable. You need to go further south. The Rea sea would be perfect, too bad the risks of attacks are too high. Canary Islands are the cheapest and safest bet

Budgiegirlbob · 18/06/2018 07:26

Make sure the swimming pool is heated, if you intend.to swim. We went to Tenerife in April, the weather was good (22-24), but the pool was so cold it took your breath away. No-one was in it for more than a minute or two.

KingIrving · 18/06/2018 07:29

That's why I linked the Costa Adele Palace. One of the outdoor pools is very well heated and there is also an indoor pool.

£2500 might be tricky in the school holidays. Where are you based? Often flying from Scotland can be much cheaper due to different holidays.
