Me, my partner and kids (17 and 13) are off to Split, Croatia. Any tips or ideas of things to do?

When it gets too hot take the bus that runs to the end of the peninsula next to split, about a mile or so. It has private rocky coves where you can rent sunbeds, buy food and drink and swim.

Ferries to the islands are super easy. I chose Brac and spent the day on Zlatni Rat beach.
Trogir is an easy bus ride and nice to wander around for half a day. It has been used as a stand in for Venice in films.

Kasuni Beach is beautiful, you can walk along the shore from Split and cool off in the little rocky inlets along the way. You do have to come back on to the road for the last stretch though.

We only had a day when we stopped on a cruise but my 19 and 17 year olds loved it. In fact it was the highlight of the holiday, much preferred to Venice or Dubrovnic.
The Diocletian palace is fabulous, a whole city within the city. Dungeons and little streets with ancient buildings housing shops and restaurants.

My daughter has just been and went to a National Park with waterfalls. It looks absolutely beautiful from the photographs.

I enjoyed a day trip to Trogir, but loved the day trip to Bosnia and Herzegovina (visiting Mostar and then waterfalls on the way back).

Also, make sure you pop into Froggyland for what could be one of the strangest 20minutes you've ever spent.
